The Hemelshot’s neighbors, the Carlysles, however, prefer to communicate via an authentic Gutenberg Press…

To yell they have to use Bold letters or italics. But from the looks on their faces I think that bulbs went out some time ago.

I think the written word can be more romantic sometimes, tho’ I love the timbre of his voice. Rose and Jimbo often write notes. My lover likes me to message him with MP3s and I’d like those too.@Stel, who sets the type? I’ve done that as well as setting wax sheets in a mimeo (what haven’t I done?).

With the Hemelshots it’s always hard to tell. Marvin and Shirley have their doubts. It looks good on the surface, but something is just not right. It would be going too far to say, it’s just not right, but on the other hand, not far from it. Why has Patti given up her polka dots and stopped dying her hair blue? Has George truly forsaken his pocket protector? Where is Rusty Boy at a time like this? I must say as a casual observer, I am worried. George didn’t drive a truck because of his great literary skills and Patti has given up her position as substitute Bulletin Coordinator for the Garden Club. Oh my, could it be true, at their age, that the things that don’t make sense are starting to make sense and the things that made sense, don’t!!!! Only time will tell.

If they were stenographers now there is a lost art. We had to take it and typing when I was in high school back 1970. A REQUIRED course to pass. Swirl, mark, mark, two dots and and thingy. Had meaning back then but now just so much cknscrtng

I was forced as a kid by my Mom to take typing one year in a summer school program ( I think just to get me out of her hair ) but it was invaluable as I got into High School and College. I also had a course in what was called speed writing, which wasn’t stenography but more akin to what tweeters and texters do today. Was a great help in writing down Prof.‘s lectures – that is if I could decipher it later. Kids type everything today. A handwritten letter is a thing of the past. I don’t know if my grandson even knows who to write ( not print ).

I started a typing class in HS (quit to take up drafting) and would NEVER have taken steno! I DID have an art class on various styles of calligraphy (still have some work sheets somewhere) and did envelopes for invites a while when my kids were little. I was also illustrator for many newsletters (PTA and such) and these days most of us in SCA do some calligraphy and/or illumination. I’m still slow at typing but like having spellcheck on my email.

Love your outfit, Susan! Just about right for the head grinder!

Enjoyable commercials? almost seems an oxymoron, but there IS that one for some massage oils . . . Time for a cool bath, and bedtime. G’night all!
