What the boys have come up with there is what is commonly called a hangman’s noose.

Stel It’s not my fault! I left my glasses at home and the woman coming out of the Ballard Real Estate and Feed and Seed Office looked like Bev! She had red hair and was..well,,, er…over 30, yeah that’s it 30. Anyway I hear their business isn’t going so well, the only houses they have for sale are the ones on Tory and Al’s street, and nobody is going to buy those. Anyway……welcome back!

Now do a bowline. If you boys[dogs] do boating, you should know this. :) Peace.

That clinch knot is the one that works best with monofilament line.

A week or two ago I watched Follow Me, Boys. Fred MacMurray plays a scoutmaster who accidentally leads his troop into a war games area and is taken “prisoner”. He tells the lieutenant that he’s a scoutmaster and it’s all just a big mistake. “Oh yeah?” says the lieutenant, “If you’re a scoutmaster, tie a sheepshank”.

When my kids were young, and everyone was wearing “docksider” shoes. The leather lace would always come undone, so I tied carrick bends in them. Ha! It was so successful, that I had to tie them in all their friend’s shoes too. I haven’t thought of that in years, but I still remember how to do it. ( I still know how to tie a bowline with one hand, too. ;^)
