Happyᵌ ….
You asked x_Tech a question on yesterday’s forum….
which he came back and answered, for just about everybody….. and I totally agree.
But just in case your situation includes some special circumstances…
It’s actually impossible to answer, because you didn’t say so.
Some people get confused cos it’s no longer called “Defrag.” It’s called disk optimization…. but it’s defrag.
Besides, hard drives are much better at storing files now, so defrag is less necessary anyway.
However…. I think maybe you’ve told me you’re on a MAC…
If so, you ALWAYS need to put that in your question, cos otherwise most of us will answer for Windows.
I’ve read that it doesn’t need defragging, unless maybe it’s very very full, like 90%, and sluggish.
Plus, some MAC users do run 3rd party utilities then…. from specific and reputable sites or software sellers.
But I wonder most about why you even thought of defragging, especially with this program … and the name of it, and where it comes from…
cos chances are you have no need for it….
so MAYBE it just popped up….
I want to repeat my usual warning….
which you probably already know…..
But just in case anybody doesn’t:
If ANYTHING ever pops up on your computer …any computer…
with a message like “Your disk is fragmented… run this free program”…
“VIRUS found!!! Free Scan”
“System Mechanic! Fix your 3 Disk Errors!”
And it’s not from the antivirus program that YOU installed….
It’s almost always MALWARE and will do the OPPOSITE!
NEVER EVER click on a program that offers to install itself, fix anything, or do any job on your computer.
Never ever ever.
Run your anti-virus and anti-malware scans ASAP, instea

The MAC OS writes files to the hard drive differently.I’ve read that it doesn’t need defragging, unless maybe it’s very very full, like 90%, and sluggish.
