I had a quilter friend who said the shirt I was wearing was just what she needed to finish her quilt. She said she only needed a small piece. No, I did not give her the shirt off my back or even a small piece.
Anybody remember the sixties? Men’s oxford shirts had an odd little loop on the back, and in high school, girls would sneak up and rip them off, collecting them like scalps. I finally got tired of mending, and had to shop for shirts with no loop.

The fabric bandit strikes again! I see he already has a collection in his belt. He’d better not try that with Mrs. Higglepooder.

That shirt needed to be mutilated anyway.

Actually I could use some of those samples at my fabric shop.

Oh dear. Chester is “counting coup” again. He must have skipped a dose.

Liverlips…. maybe you’re right!
I thought he was just collecting squares to get an early start on his “Neighborhood Quilt” entry
for next years Ballard County fair…something he’s talked about for a couple of years,
but has never made, cos he never thinks he can finish by the deadline.
But I think he had enough fabric patches for that by 1992.
So maybe, by now, it’s just the thrill of the chase…
the sneak attack…. the derring-do…
at an age when everyone expects that his derring doesn’t.
At least… sigh…. not any more.
Sad, though, if that means in his game we’re all his enemies.
Marshall has always thought they were friends.
And he was sure Chester knew Sophie had just made him that shirt,
out of the same fabric as her dress for the labor day picnic.
Now they won’t match!

Chester the shirt molester.I can’t wait until he encounters Mrs Higglepooder. He’ll get the ultimate in unpleasantness.

that’s what you get for recycling your wife’s dress into a shirt.
