Delores: No constant din of construction vehicles... Banks: There are seven.... no, eights different types of birds chirping. Delores: The silence is almost deafening! banks: A guy in a canoe just opened a can of coke.

And your definition of silence can change. When I was little we moved from an apartment in “town” to the “suburbs” of our little burg. I had trouble sleeping for weeks. It’s amazing how soothing the sound of semis downshifting going up a hill can be. At least compared to the racket that birds can make.

I’ve been there. It’s amazing. It’s like someone turned up the volume control in my ears. I could hear sounds miles away. I could hear bucks rubbing their antlers on trees as a challenge to others who would be competition for their search for female deer during the rutting season.
It takes about 20 minutes for things to open up
