Have squirrels a’plenty in my yard. Trust me, they eat, uh, that. The little rodents even ate a hole in the can to get to ‘that’.

On a side note, I think I’ve seen reference to editing one’s comments after posting? Anyone able to enlighten me on this? I can see how to delete, and I think I figured out “flagging” before accidentally DOING it to anyone. . .

Squirrels taste bitter, but rats are a bit mousey.

Squirrels eat carrion just like other rodents.

Fancy rats are cute. Only the wild rats are…ratty.

Squirrels like a bit of booze, once in a while…

It’s a hard life for city rats, they don’t often live more than a year. Pet rats live 2-4 years and can be very beautiful and great p´rsonalitiies.

Squirrels are the ones that will chew into our trash bags in my neighborhood.

Rats are very smart. We’ve had pet rats — no not quite the same as wild rats — and they were wonderful pets.

Actually I do put the bags in a can. I haven’t had any trouble since I’ve done that, but I’ve seen them do that to other neighbors. I agree about their place in the ecology… I especially enjoy seeing the small black nimble squirrels that have appeared over the last few years.
