I don’t care if they call a fat kid fat, but I’m much more concerned about the bald witches wearing wigs. I have always heard that Orthodox Jewish women shave their heads and wear wigs, so I don’t think Dahl was just making fun of bald women, I think he is saying that Jewish women are witches (especially since he was known to be vehemently antisemitic).

I discovered Ray Bradbury back in the 70s when I was in 8th grade. Back then, the idea that science fiction could be considered serious literature was ludicrous. But now, Ray Bradbury is considered a great author and many of his books stand the test of time.
