Hello Gweedo Murray, Yuckoner, Grog, Lonewolf, Big Sister, Tanya, WoodEye, and Dogsniff wherever you are, and also hello to the rest as they come
I don’t like what is going on with BP oil and I too am tired of seeing it in comics that I like. Why can’t they just keep it in the political comics section?
It is apparent that your apathy toward this topic is all the more reason why cartoonists should express their notions political or otherwise. It’s unfortunate that a tragedy of such proportions is already boring you. Shame on all of you, not Wiley!
Tell it like it is. It’s not so much about being bored as it’s not wanting to read about it or see it on tv. It’s the old “ostrich” system, If we don’t see it, maybe it’ll go away!” Not!
I don’t know about the Egyptians, but I know the Greeks and Romans used humor politically. Write on, Wiley! I don’t agree with you but I do believe in your right to write. If the price of waterfront on the Gold Coast has dropped to oil slick on the oil coast, such is real estate. I notice those rich creeps on Cape Cod are still trying to preserve their precious sea views. This time they are saying windmills will hurt birdies. Renewable energy! But not in my back yard.
The poem obviously tells about spilling oil in the Gulf of Mexico. I am so pissed off that BP kept letting the oil gushing up in the water for 68 days! Why didn’t they put the cap on the broken pipe to shut the oil off immediately? Any proof why the oil rig was exploded and caused fire and then rig sunk in the water while the investigation was continued???? Have they find what cause the oil rig exploded?
M & Hart are really on the Oil Kick these days
yet, oh so true!! By-the-way my Mom’s house is Solar powered- THAT is why I agree so much w/Hart!! ( hope to inharit the house when-well, let’s just say much later!!)
@NyuckNyuck2000 - If the environmentalists would allow drilling in ANWAR and shallow waters, it would be less difficult - hence less expensive - than drilling in the deeper waters where the BP problem started. And if it is less expensive for the oil companies, then they wouldn’t have as much motivation to drill in areas where it takes more work to do it successfully. Oil wells done on land or shallow waters are much easier to do and also to fix any problems that might arise.
When all is said and done if it were possible to avoid petrol products the benefits would completely outweigh the costs. However, what most of you seem to give in to with out much fight is that the wealthy control this game and not much we can do. So think back to your high school world history class and pull back the french revolution, american revolution - Marx and the manifesto (in its purest form- ideologic intentions) 50’s - 60’s civi rights movement, until enough people get fed up and questioned the decency of their own character, nothing ever changes. I’m an old guy and see how the generation X-ers and forward look back and try to relive the past rather than generate their own criteria for whats important for a society.—–Okay I’ll stop for now but it is Sunday we’re allowed to preach on this day, right? But think about the tons of issues that today could be resolved if people stopped waiting for answers and instead created answers and went for it …. okay enough already, I know. Back to laughing at the nonsensical and avoiding what counts.
OH thank GOD! shoes and handbags!! now there’s a happy thought!! Wait…they’re made in China…what’s worse than an oil spill? China’s child slavery…Work children, Work! Americans need their faux COACH bags!

Yawn. We get enough of this on the news. I’m sick of seeing it in the comic pages too.

I agree Grog, comics are supposed to make you happy. Well not the political comics.

Well, evidently garden-variety cartoonists have strong feelings about what’s going on too.

When you’re chiseling your poems into stone, you’d better have strong feelings.

I’m with you, Grog.
I do pay attention to the tragedy at hand, but I do not wish to see it in the comics. Now how is that burying your head in the sand, Twypsi?
Good Morning, Twypsi, LuvH8, Grog, Ladywolf, Woodeye, Tanya(hope you’re having fun!) & Everyone.

Give the rich another tax break, they need it to clean up their beaches.

Please walk or bike to work tomorrow if you’re really concerned about the oil problem.

How about a cartoon showing thousands of skimmers blockaded out of the gulf because they “might be needed elsewhere”?

@dsom8: Be sure you don’t use chain lube or grease that might have come out of the ground.
