I really wonder if they have done studies using white gas, the stuff that was used before WWII? They have taken the octane down so low, that older cars(from the 50-70) can barely run. It seems to me that all the additives have just made cars more inefficient.
@BigChiefDesotoI remember seeing what I thought was a 58 Plymouth down in Malibu this last summer. My wife was looking for movie stars, and I was looking at the vintage autos. (At least that’s what I told her. Not looking at the ladies, hon)
However, the 4-wheel models will win out.Anyone remember the Ripley strip that featured an 8-wheel car?Wheel alignment would have to have been a bear!!
Right out of high School in 1964, I put a 327—350hp engine out of a wrecked Corvette in my 1956 Chevy with a four speed trans and Hurst shifter and two four barrel AFB Carters and still got 19 MPG. Never found it’s top speed as it kept twisting speedometer cables above 100 MPH. Never got a chance to drag it because they required a scatter shield and I just never installed one. Sold it when my first daughter was born because I was afraid I’d kill her with it.

Re the cartoon: Is the “new” conveyance “gas” powered? If so, the driver’s “gas” emitting posterior is pointing in the right direction.
