The “Creationist’s” you refer to are an interpretation that was rejected by the Church fathers (e.g. Augustine asked, “How can there be literal days when timekeeping was not created until day 4?”), and didn’t become popular again until the 19th century. You can blame the mixing of religion with popular pseudo-science.
However, “Creationist” simply (and historically) means that one believes the “world” (i.e. material universe) was created ex-nihilo. The Bible says nothing about how long ago “in the beginning” was (even if you take the 7 days literally).
“The Bible promises that no creature can ever go extinct.” Do you have a reference for that? I’m pretty sure you are BSing, It wouldn’t surprise me if some Christian made that claim, but you won’t find it in the Bible.
