    I think America should have better policies in general. I work for a company that does give paid maternity leave. Which I think is great. But I have had 2 team members quit immediately after their maternity leave. It had happened so many times company-wide that the company has changed the leave policy. If the new mother doesn’t return to work for a period of time after the leave, they are on the hook for reimbursing the amount paid during leave. Some women in the company are upset about the policy change, but I have to admit I understand the company’s perspective.

    France has a revolution about raising the retirement age. I hope paid maternity leave is not next.

    USA still at 0. Civilised countries around the world have from 15 to 26 and a few into the 30s.

    In Canada it’s 50 weeks at 55 percent of your salary. And your job is protected. I don’t know if this is still in place, but it used to be that the father could also have paternity leave. So many couples would take their leave consecutively. The baby had a full-time parent at home for 2 years.
