When my lover had that lab mix, Tippy, I was the one to fix her meals. She learned to bring me her bowl and I always mixed in a good amount of table scraps, while never over-feeding her.
Last time I was there we ate out a lot (and no dog) but I was able to use a lot of the leftovers in our breakfasts.
