I remember making a wish list for Santa … wrapping it around the stick on a bottle rocket and launching towards the north star the weekend after Thanksgiving
I grew up knowing that Santa was make-believe. My mother had a very bad experience finding out about Santa, and didn’t want that to happen to us. It never hurt us to “be in the know,” so when I had kids, I told them the same. It never bothered them to know something that the other kids in the neighbourhood didn’t know. :)
Most kids figure it out pretty early by themselves but they like to enjoy pretending and going along with the fun I know I did for years it’s fun to make believe
I don’t think it’s about them growing up too fast, at least not in this case. They’re just aware of the technology that surrounds them and is part of their lives. It makes sense, even if the kid doesn’t have his own iPhone yet, that he knows Mommy and Daddy have them; therefore, Santa (also a grownup) has one also.
I am Jewish. When I was little (under 5) I got Christmas gifts. We lived in an apartment building and did not have a chimney. I was told that in this case Santa came out of the (large console) TV. My gifts would be in front of the TV. (And since our last year there it was my bedroom, I am amazed that the gifts appeared overnight and I did not hear them being putting out.)
Since Christmas was NOT a thing in my family when I was older I always thought it strange that I got gifts for same. I was talking with my (95 yo) mom last year and found out why I received gifts “from Santa”. My dad was an accountant and apparently clients would give him gifts for me. Similarly my grandfather owned a factory and his manager would send Santa gifts for me.

Thirty years ago it was fax machines that were a quick method to get that list to Santa…

Is Apple paying for this comic? Not everyone wants or needs a ridiculously expensive iphone.
