Actually, the internet can be used to deliver instructions to various web-connected devices (including PCs, obviously). I believe it was supposed to have been instrumental in sabotaging centrifuges used in Iran’s nuclear program, and it’s been demonstrated that at least one make of car with WIFI can be hacked externally to bring it to a stop. (And it’s likely that many other cars with WIFI can be hacked.)
Medical devices are tied into the Internet and can be hacked to kill people. This has been demonstrated through research, but there’s no evidence it has been done yet.
