Good one Betty. I knew a guy who lived in Amsterdam. He refused to wear deodorant. Could not figure out why no one would date him

oh, you can eat there again, but do you really want to eat food that comes into contact with a fellow human who resents or dislikes you?eating food prepared by strangers involves a high degree of trust

I use that same method to determine 15% tip, but I try to round it up and use whole numbers instead. So the $54.27 becomes $6 + $3 and the tip becomes $9. I try to be a good tipper (depending on the service).

My mom will sit and gamble away $100 without batting an eye but leaves a $1 tip for a $30 meal (even though I’m buying the meal and she just leaves the tip). I can’t stand going out to eat with her. I let her leave first, then throw a $5 on the table. The irony is, she used to work as a waitress (back in the 60’s in Mississippi) and whines about making 33 1/3¢ an hour back then but tips so poorly now.

Where does that idea come from that supposedly in Europe you don’t have to tip? There like everywhere else lots of waiters are students or people with second jobs who depend on their tips. In Germany (where I’m from) I always tip 10% if the service was right, 5% for mediocre service.
