Whenever I see someone playing a disc on tv — and now it seems in comics too — they have the lid up. In my very long experience of listening to records, it’s always best with the lid down, hiding the surface noise from the disc (even audible to my deaf old lug ‘oles). It’s even worse with a wind-up 78 player.
