Big Nate by Lincoln Peirce for September 27, 1998
Transcript:
BOINK! GORDIE: Nyuk Nyuk Nyuk! NATE: What do you think Gordie? GORDIE: Hmmm your artwork is definitely improving, Nate...but your writing still needs work. Ever heard the saying that baseball is 90% pitching? Drawing a comic strip i 90% writing. A good gag is the foundation! Then you can build on that with your artwork! NATE: That makes sense! GORDIE: But it's easy to forget! Sometimes I start drawing a strip without knowing how it'll end! I get to the last panel and I realize: Hey I don't have a punchline here! NATE: Wow, so what do you do then? GORDIE: Well, sometimes I resort to slapstick. NATE: But...isn't that sort of cheap? GORDIE: Sort of, yeah.
