Without a lot of extra help, Nate won’t be able to do much of anything Math-related. Nate should probably just stick to his comfort zone—comics, caricatures, and sports (soccer, basketball etc.). Nate is constantly thinking about how other people are making money and thinking of some extravagant and unrealistic way to implement that to his own advantage. (Also, gazillion is not technically a number, it just represents some extremely large number that is not defined.)
Nate is good in brain teasers though (He was seen effortlessly solving one in which his dad couldn’t solve, I forgot which strip that was.), so he might be good at mathematical logic which is mathematics. If so, he should try making brain teasers for the newspapers, many people might feel intrigued to solve them.
Now that I’ve read, and replied to a couple of, your comments, here’s my take:
If Nate thinks the person who invented Sudoku or KenKen got rich for doing so, he is sadly mistaken. You submit the puzzles to the editor of the publication(s) you want the puzzles to appear in, and you only get paid a set rate (which varies from publisher to publisher) for each puzzle they print. I speak from experience, being a crossword puzzle constructor myself (hence my username).

To everyone that thinks the “subtraction” is going to pop up again: I think it was just a random joke and not meant to be a cliffhanger or anything.

He could do Sudoku, so maybe instead of the numbers he could just replace them with Big Nate characters. Lol he already did!

OK, maybe no subtraction for a comic Nate likes, but Nate wishes he could subtract himself from his mean “friends” instead..
