Well we just got back from Seattle about 10 minutes ago. Forgot to close the garage door and a raccoon got into Cleo’s dog food by ripping the lid of the container off and tipping it over. It was still in the garage when we got out of the car. Evidently the coon and Cleo had dinner together because my Lab has got one fat tummy from over eating at the buffet.

Had a wonderful time. The meal that my wife’s daughter’s boyfriend prepared for his Chef final grade was spectacular and that was for lunch. Then we went over to their house with a bbq of chicken, steak and salmon. A great day.

Short sheeted? Have you guys been up to something since I have been away?

Shika, yes Kaya was the dog that I had before I met my wife.

The doggie bag is in the fridge. You guys can have it when you come back to tidy up after your beach party.

Man, you guys were busy posters yesterday.

I also have cut up cantaloupe, orange slices, and bananas to go with Dawn’ s spread. My sonic coffee is brewing, help yourselves.

I should have known you were out there tasting the kibbles JFri. What’s the matter, once the crackers in my cupboard were finished, did you forget to check in the basement pantry where the Costco boxes of refills are stacked? Serves you right. At least you were eating premium dog food.

That is the point of having a home on a lake. Our house and yard have worked wonders on relieving the stress in our guests lives. For the short time they are here, they relax. Hint, hint. NEWS FLASH!

A raccoon named BANDIT has been reported to be travelling with a possee in the direction of CO. They are reported to be armed with pellet guns and kibble, and were heard muttering, “must avenge shik—” the rest of the sentence was unintelligable, but it is believed that they have found a crossbow which may or may not be used in their neferious plot.

    Stay tuned for updates.

Gee, did I miss some goings-on around here?

Speaking of raccoons, one (at least) recently cleaned out one of my dad’s fishponds of koi. Now the other has a mesh over it, reinforced by rebar, to protect the six remaining.

Did anyone happen to notice whether “Bandit” the coon is carrying a fishing net also?

    DAAAAAAHHH Strip:

    Columbo???

“Now, my wife, she’s ALWAYS callin’ these 900 numbers…..to get RECIPE ideas, you understand. Now, what I’m wondering is: What were YOU doing calling one of these recipe-hotlines, when we ALL know that - ya mind if I sit down? - we all know that the only time when YOU seem to do any cooking is when you shake those little pepper flakes on yer - y’know, my wife just LOVES to use those things, even on the JELLO at home - it takes me forever to pick all of the pepper stuff out, and by then my nice dessert’s all melted, & it’s all over my hands, and I gotta go wash up over the kitchen sink - now, where was I……Oh, yeah, when you’re heatin’ up an old slice of pizza in the microwave……..Y’know, I got one of those microwave contraptions, but my wife, she’s always tellin’ me I’m meltin’ the little plastic plate when I heat up yesterday’s casserole.

“Now, am I makin’ any sense here? - ‘cause my wife, she’s always tellin’ me that I just ramble & ramble on & on a little bit, but this thought, I just CAN’T get it outta my head - y’mind if I smoke in here? My wife, she’s always tellin’ me not to smoke anymore, but I just plain can’t stop thinkin’ - is THAT an ash tray over there? - Y’mind if I use it? - ‘Cause my wife, she’s always got this habit of following me around with an ash tray, when I’m in the house, which can be a very embarrasing thing when we’ve got company……….So, what I’m wonderin’ is, when you set yourself down in your easy chair at night to read the daily paper, do you ever get that funny feeling - I don’t know if I’m barkin’ up the wrong tree here, or what - do you ever get that kind-a wierd feeling that maybe that poodley-thing over there might - y’know, I used to have a little dog, too - sort of an, I don’t know, BENJI-type of mutt - my wife was always sayin’ I should give the poor thing a bath once a week, but since I usually wash my OVERCOAT a couple o’ times a YEAR, & I figured if it’s good enough for ME, it should be good enough - I’m not boring you, now, am I - ‘cause my wife is always noddin’ off if I start to bring my work home with me - YOU know how THAT is, right??? ‘Cause I just can’t stop wonderin’ how - y’know what it’s like when ya got a thought in yer head, & it just won’t go away? - well, I’m wonderin’ how that **one pawprint got onto the receiver of your Little Princess bedroom phone……..”

THE BALLAD OF THE YAPPY NUT TRIBE

Just sit right back and you’ll hear a tale, A tale of a fateful Tribe Of Yappy Nuts and and DoctorToon Who’s hard to describe, who’s hard to describe. ~~~ The shaman was a mighty shipping man, The pirate brave and sure. With Joy the Tribe set sail that day For a three hour tour. A three hour tour. ~~~ The weather started getting rough, The Pirate’s ship was tossed. If not for the courage of the fearless crew The Tribe would be lost. The Tribe would be lost. ~~~ The ship set ground on the shore of this unchartered strip BIG TOP: With doctorToon, And Pirate too And Joy, Carm, Marg and Dry And Shikamoo and TabbyLynn, And fellow Tribe mates too.And fellow Tribemates too. ~~~ RRAmom and CLEO too Who keep us sane and fed, Unless they’ve had a drink or two, It goes right to their head. It goes right to their head. There’s Radical the Knight and Dawn , And Digital the Frog There’s JFri geocaching and There’s more than on the log. ~~~ So bmonk’s got to pray for us, And I’ll say a prayer or two, This Tribe keeps growing,- I can’t keep up I did not for-get you! I did not for-get you. If anyone is not named here, Just add a verse or two. This ballad will keep growing now From here to Timbuctu! From here to Timbutu!

Shika - you inspired me so I decided to follow up with another tribute song:

Here’s the story Of lovely lady Who would comment all the toons at 1AM With a heart of gold She’s like our mother Her name is Margueritem

Here’s the story, Of a man named DocToon Who was busy with 2 cats of his own All the toons he reads Must be a hundred And each one sparks a groan.

And then one day when this lady met this fellow, Both were tired of the SOTU diatribe So they invited us to join the party And that’s the way we all became the Big Top Tribe

The Big Top Tribe The Big Top Tribe That’s the way we became the Big Top Tribe

JFri, thanks for the cat lovers post. If I may get off the topic for a moment, can someone please tell me how I can change my avatar? When I first started I could only access a very limited menu. As you may guess, I am not very proficient on a computer. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks. I will now return you to your regularily scheduled program. Skika I am going to Salmon Arm, BC, which is about 45 minutes from Kelowna and Kamloops.

And I am okay with any version of the song. You can have me drunk and naked on the poop deck and I won’t object, although many others may. LOL

doc , It’s 9:30 here. So you go to work around 9:30 or 10? Man I could never do that, as I told you before! I guess it’s all in what you are used to! My dad worked shift work, 7 Am - 3 Pm, 3-11 and11Pm to 7 AM, never understood how he could do that, and thank God, I don’t have to! I’m usually nodding by 11 PM! Of course when I was younger I could be up all night!!

If not for the courage of JohnnyDoc The Tribe would be lost. ~~~ RRAmom and CLEO too Who keep us sane and fed, Unless they’ve had a drink or two, Then CLEO’S lost his head. And R-mom’s face is red! There’s Radical the Knight and Dawn , And Digital the Frog There’s JFri geocaching and There’s more than on the log. ~~~ So bmonk’s got to pray for us, And we’ll all say a prayer or two, This Tribe keeps growing,- I can’t keep up I did not for-get you! I learned German in college but had nobody to speak with so only know a little bit because my grammar is terrible.

I do still try occasionally along with some Spanish and a little Russian. My real problem is I’ll mix a couple Spanish or Russian words when trying to speak German.

GEE. All my ancestors came from England, Wales, Scotland or Ireland, but barely an accent between them. Except my dad’s mom spoke with what we called the Howard drawl. She was a Howard from England, but I don’t know why everyone in her family had this drawl.

Rad my uncle went back to Germany in 1932 and got stuck there when they closed the borders. Got drafted into the Wehrmacht and wound up in the Panzer SS as a tank commander (Obergruppenfuhrer, I believe). My mom’s brother was in a Sherman tank for the Americans. Both wound up at the Battle of the Bulge and figured they HAD to have been shooting at each other. How weird is THAT?

I loved everywhere that I visited, but Libya will always stand out because of the people. We visited the city of Tobruk, which had not had any tourists in any recent history. We felt like rock stars. Everyone stared at us. Cars would be driving along, then stop and stare at us. Everyone that approached us was very friendly and in what English they had would welcome us. Those that could speak English well and wanted to discuss politics made a point of stressing that they love Americans, but just didn’t like George Bush. i was impressed by how they could separate politics from individual personalities. As beautiful as the country was it could not compare to the people. I have never seen such a handsome group of people.
