Good Morning everyone. I’m early this time. Hey tabby try and do what I when Mr. Insomina pays a late-night visit:

    1.Read A Book

2.Play the radio or the TV (with a timer on so it can turn off)

3.Or what I do: Listen to recorded bed bedtime stories you made for your children.

    Morning tribe!

Tabby You’re right - I do know that song, but not near as well as that little girl does!

tabby, shika, bmonk, and others who pray - please pray for my left hand. In the past, I’ve had a dislocated finger and a cracked finger, so when I injured it Monday, it didn’t seem to hurt as bad as those times, and figured it was the equivalent of stubbing a toe. But it is STILL sore, and slightly swollen (I can only tell that by comparing it to my other hand.) I can move it okay, and do light things with it like typing. But it hurts to grip anything - like taking the cap off a marker, or turning a doorknob. I really don’t want to have more medical bills, or trips to get physical therapy!! If it isn’t better by Friday, I guess I’ll have to go see a doctor. So, pray that it heals by then.

Goodquestion I hurt my hand by being klutzy. I tried to pull myself up into a truck cab, and since I had a Coke bottle in my hand, didn’t get a good enough grip, and slipped. I think it bent my finger(s) back too far, but not sure. I can’t even tell for sure exactly where the injury is located - all my fingers hurt on that hand from the swelling.

RMom - I hope that you didn’t break anything. Try to keep your hand elevated, that might help the swelling. If possible, try to exercise your fingers by moving them. Hope you get better soon.

Okay, breakfast…Let’s see, how about a sun-dried tomato frittata with fresh basil and sauteed onions, served with my homemade light wheat bread. Cubes of honeydew and cantaloupe on the side and my sonic coffee or cranberry juice for your beverage choices.

    Thanks doc

Cleo - Since I’ve cracked & dislocated fingers before, I’ve had a little experience in this area, unfortunately. I don’t think I broke anything, since the pain seems spread over a wide area, and not specific to a precise point. The swelling isn’t too severe - sort of what water retention looks like, but only one hand. Is it possible to just pull/sprain muscles or ligaments on fingers?

Good morning all! I may be scarce over the next few days, so don’t worry about search parties.

For breakfast - I finally located my chrome plated dishes so that I can make Eggs Benedict.

RMom - Finger sprains are definitely possible, keep it elevated as mentioned above and alternate heat and ice should help. Definitely get it checked though.

RRAmom sounds like you pulled your tendons. Usually happens in other areas (my knees, once) and hurts like blazes. Ice should help but in the long run, time will heal your hand. Suggest you cut down on multi-tasking. Prayers and good vibes coming your way. Cleo- we sure missed your breakfests, I’m swelling up like a balloon here! Ummmumm good! ☼

Thanks for the advice. I’ve made an appointment for tomorrow afternoon. I’ll let you know what I find out. Dfrog the heat might be a good idea - I’ll have to dig out my hot wax bath and use it on it. (The hot wax bath is an appliance designed to soak feet in hot wax to soften them. I haven’t used mine much because my feet are too big to fit in it. But when I dislocated my finger, soaking my hand in hot wax was part of the physical therapy.)

As I somewhat stated on C&H, I’m not sure how to take it. I don’t mind off topic, which is why I was so glad to find this strip and all you great people. But why would a parent let her child, albeit high school age, explain that much about herself and then state tha you’re proud after an offensive and destructive action once you had the idiot repellled. This is the third time I have written this and have erased the previous two. I surely hope I don’t offend anyone on this strip. I really am liking this strip more and more every day.

Terry - I think the “elders” of BT ought to make the decision. My thinking is that if they switched their conversations over here, we could draw more info out of them to decide if they’re scamming or for real. I think some of the others here have more experience than I do, dealing with trolls and other dangers of the internet, and might be better judges. I think I do a pretty fair job of discerning in RL, but it is easier when I have more clues on which to base my decisions.

tabby The more I think about it, I think Joy is right. BT is to be a party - a place for fun. ladywolf has some serious issues, and if they are for real, it wouldn’t be kind to make light of them. If they aren’t for real, then we don’t need that type of people here. It does seem odd for a parent & teenager to communicate with each other on gocomics. If I want to communicate with my teenager, and he’s not in the house, I send him an email, or call him. Considering how quickly they’ve gone from surface to deep issues in their comments, I tend to agree that they’re fishing for something. What, I’m not sure, but it may be best to leave well enough alone.

As for me, I take what people say, here or elsewhere, at face value. If they want to pull the wool over my eyes, so be it. Soon enough the truth will out, if it’s important. And I don’t really change my life based on what might or might not be true. Trust, but verify, as someone once said.

@Joy, I’ve been noticing that the synchronization of the servers seems to be beginning to drift a bit again. A few months back it got gradually worse, until things were five or ten minutes out of whack. You could even lap yourself by posing comment-response-response by original commenter in reverse order. It caused no end of confusion; over at Pibgorn, we chalked it up to Roger’s reprogramming of the Suzerain master computer on the fly. Eventually, though, someone over at the administration seems to have noticed and reset things.

    @doctortoon, here’s how I do the Rubik’s:

    Get the corner cubicles aligned

Turn the center cubicles to match

Work on the edge cubicles in groups of four

When everything else fails, get a screwdriver (or similar implement. A key often works), take the #$_**#%$^%@#$ thing apart, and reassemble in finished order.

Yes, the synchronization is only a big problem for those comics where you get lots of posts, which then are necessarily closer in time. It used to be easier, when the time marks updated themselves; I would just wait until they said “posted one minute ago” or even two or three. Now, with the unchanging time marks, that doesn’t work. [sigh]

Good afternoon!! Let’s see what comments I can remember to comment on.

rramom how’s the hand doing? I couldn’t remember if it should be ice or heat, but I think they were both covered and you knew what to do anyway.

carmy glad you’re still okay. Hopefully tomorrow you’ll be better than okay

    tabby glad you’re still healing

I saw the posts earlier on Calvin & Hobbes. By the time I read through them, I still wasn’t sure how real they were. The daughter just showed up a few days ago and then this, so who knows. Either way, I hope everyone is ok.

Terry I hope you’re not texting and driving. We yell at JFri for doing that, so we have to yell at you too. (and tabby if I ever find out that you’re doing that, you’ll be grounded)

Time to walk a little (5 minutes only) so I should be back before the dance show starts up.

I did not try to infringe by thinking my opinion would sway the “elders”. I just put my opinion into words. I thought this was OK on this location from watching this site for 3-4 days and doing my homework. If there are certain meetings or discussions that newbies are not invited to for an opinion then I/We need to be advised. I would never try to intentionally hurt anyone with my comments which is why I usually add “I hope I’m not offending anyone”. It is hard at 51yrs to not give an opinion on an open site.

Akenta thanks for asking. My hand is still about the same. I’ve tried to remove my wedding ring, but can’t get it off. I’ve tried every trick in the book I can think of - ice pack, cold water, butter, liquid soap, turning it like a nut on a bolt, and ibuprofen. I think the only thing left is to cut it off. Maybe it won’t be as swollen tomorrow, and I’ll have more luck getting it off. I think I’m supposed to remove my ring before adding heat, so haven’t tried the heat yet.

Shika I’ll try your tip in the morning, after it has had a night to relax. I realized that tugging on it just made it worse, so after it was obvious that it wasn’t coming off, I quit. I usually leave my ring on all the time, but the few times before that I’ve had to take it off, the liquid soap and “unscrewing” motion had done the trick.

My hubby unexpectedly showed up tonight, so guess I’ll sign off until tomorrow. (I usually only see him on weekends.)

@cleokaya, that beer can chicken sounds like a community dinner recipe here, called Schwein im Trog (“Pig in the Trough”). They take a whole porker, put it in a (large) cooker trough, for a 6 foot cooker. Then they pour in about 25 gallons of (stale) beer, plop in the veggies (onions, carrots, potatoes and the like, plus spices), maybe some sausage, a few turkeys or chickens, depending on how many guests you expect to feed, and cook it for six or so hours. Tastes great! (But only for at least 40-50 people…)

bmonk - your dish sounds great. mIne consists of a dry rub of pepper, kosher salt, paprika and brown sugar. Rub the ingredients both inside and out and put some in half full beer can, that has been punctured a few more times. Plant chicken on beer can and let BBQ for 2 1/2 hours for 4lb. chicken.

(I hope this isn’t too graphic for those who are still eating. ☺) I’m just wondering how the beer flavours the chicken, and the second option makes more sense to me.

The chicken is rubbed with spices inside and out and also spices are added to half full beer can which is indeed inserted into chicken. The chicken is cooked for about 2 to 3 hours until the meat falls off the bone. DELICIOUS!

Greetings fellow space cadets, I’ve been cleaning up my WEBS.COM site and putting the finishing touches on my facebook and myspace site. This along with trying to figure out what changed some settings on my regular computer have kept me pretty busy yesterday and today.

I tried to go into my toon routine about mid-day only to find that the comment don’t show. I’ve done an anti-virus scan, registry check and registry booster. Nothing helps. I even did a restore back to yesterday. Nothing.

I was beginning to think someone scrapped my account till I tried my freebie ond it didn’t show either. My “Gen” account works here on the laptop so it’s still OK.

I’m at a bit of a loss as to what or who to call next. I’m sure it’s just a setting somewhere, I just don’t know where.

    Hey guys, I have a dentist’s appointment in the morning : (

I’d better brush and floss and get to sleep.

Have a good night fellow Tribe-mates. See you all tomorrow, DV. (Oh, that’s Deo Volute or God willing, NOT Darth Vader.)

G’night JFri, Cleo and anyone still reading here.
