Good Morning all you Yappy Nuts. Dry, you are getting to be quite a little night owl. Thanks Dry & Josh for breakfast.
We had a great time last night with our guests, but preparation can take so much time. With our unbelievable weather, we once again had dinner on out deck. I like eating outdoors.

It a very Dry morning after our big water fight. LOL
Dry- I’d love some French toast with Vermount maple syrup, Canadian bacon, pineapple, melon, orange juice and Earl Grey tea this morning. Er, this afternoon.
Thanks for indulging my Canadian pride Tribe. I’m just grateful to the country who shaped who I am. I’d feel the same about whatever country I was born in. We Canadians don’t seem to appreciate our country the way you guys appreciate yours, so I like to sing her a love song sometimes.

*JFri *what do you mean, I figured it out! You’re lucky you’re not in front of me bub, I’d shake the sheiz out of you! I am doing nothing wrong!!!! It messes up on its own.
Hi Cleo, Akenta, and Terry!
Cripes, Cleo, we got more rain than that today, and the summer months are supposed to be the dry ones.
Dry, yes I did take a nap, now I am going to wander off for some food, bbl.
Akenta, I wish we had a video!! We could have all made millions on the best comedy show of all time!!! LOL
I’m sitting here after midnight, telling my son he can get online soon to play his game, I keep bursting out laughing to the point I’m losing it and he keeps coming in to see if his mother has lost her mind!
JFri- Our temps are a little more comfortable, for me anyways. Today started out at 49 and got to 72. It’s cooler here on the lake then in town and we always have a wind off the water.
Jolly Roger is now up! Rum & Cokes being served on the deck at cleo’s place! (Too friggin’ HOT here!) Sorry, cleo but you shouldn’t have bragged about your great weather!!
I know how you feel, don’t I Mua? When everyone goes outside to play, leaving me, myself, and Mua (Terry, are you reading this?), I just talk to the most intelligent of the three. Which, of course, is Mua.
Drat I missed Shika, well, enjoy your dinner. Summer time naps would be nice outdoors, but it is too wet and that makes it chilly outside. In time though…
johnny, we’ve had more rain and cool than heat and sun. We had a week in early spring that was gorgeous, 80’s and humid! Loved it!
I love summer and I love the heat and humidity! I would love some of JFri’s temps.!
I will try to post a few more times. My cooking is done, my watering is ongoing and dinner guests could arrive anytime. If i can come back I will, if not carry on. As, if that were ever an issue.
I’m back johnny, for now. I like naps indoors or out. I have a sound machine that sounds like waves lapping on a dock. Close the curtains, close my eyes and drift off to sleep with a breeze blowing in the window- if I’m lucky. AAHHH.
Outdoors, nothing beats a hammock. Where I garden- they have a hammock and pool in an oak and willow and maple tree shaded back yard. Bliss.
Hi Dry! Poor JFri can’t take the heat, I’m afraid. I don’t mind the heat either, as long as I’m dressed for it. It’s been cool and rainy this week though. Last night was almost chilly with the window open.
And, NO, Doc and JFri, my place wasn’t wet! If you remember, I scotchguarded everything so the water ran off.
But that wasn’t the case of my fellow tenants, who are still looking for you. I don’t even want to mention what they said they’d do when they find you too.
You too cleo- You diverted Niagra Falls back, so they blame you.
johnny; My cousin just moved to Minnestota. Which lake is that on? I know he’s close to the Canadian border. He’s Canadian, but married an American, and he just became an American citizen last year, age 59.
I have to say this, I only nap when I am sick! I know a lot of people like to nap and even a 30 min nap recharges their batteries, but I hate to take naps. I just feel like that is wasting my life away!
I have two Canadian cousins (they are brother and sister) who moved to the States in their teens with their parents. It’s funny to me to hear their American accents. Their other two siblings, a brother and sister, stayed in Canada. But they also have a slight accent from staying in Cleveland in their earlier years.
Well, what can I say, I am a pacifist… sometimes…
Minnesota is partially touching Lake Superior. Lake Michigan is a smaller more placid lake that borders Wisconsin and, oddly enough, Michigan.
Dry Different strokes for different folks. I don’t nap every day, but when I do, it’s often on a Sunday, which some how seems like a good day to rest. I grew up with parents who napped on Sunday.
I’m also part of a contemplative group that practices a rhythm in life of rest and movement. It just suits my personality.
But I like people with high energy like yourself. It takes all kinds to mke the world go around!
I should figured that one out myself. Thanks for straightening me out. I guess that your dream is something like a lot of people, myself included who dream of owning property on Georgian Bay. That’s the closest to the sound of the sea- any of the Great Lakes. We used to have a cottage up there, but mom sold it a few years ago.
Shika - Since I wear as little as possible. I have a tan in April. Everyone always comments on it. Company just pulled up the driveway. Sayonara Le Tribe.
Flashback That song reminded me of another one. I think it’s called “Leave Me Alone” by Helen Reddy. When I would get in a bad mood, my mom would start singing that song. Made be totally bonkers!!
sorry caps got turned on and did not know it till i fin typing carmy her name is not in bold bc i love her more or anything like that it just happened. :D
carmy I worked 27 years in malls. what else do I know but mall music? LOL I don’t listen to music at home because of the mall music. I listen to classical, West Indian or whatever.
i got a cut on my finger it hurts dont know what happened and i have a head ache. going find dad to see if we can eat and then im going to go for a walk… hopefuly. i will be back later.
Shika, I worked at the mall too, but all I heard was muzak. Then that song, “Short People” came out and the short little manager across the aisle played it to DEATH!
I was SO tempted to break her stereo.
carmy The last mall I worked at played mostly Classical music. I was the only one in the store who liked it. But when they brought music into the store, we played everything, and I just am not into loud music of any kind- especially all day, every day.
But when I do like a song, I love to sing or hum it- quietly to myself.
Dry Hell was not bleeped in your post because it was part of a well-known quote. At least, I’m assuming that. Maybe it depends on who’s manning the comments at the time.
Shikamoo said, about 3 lazy, hazy, crazy hours ago
“johnny; My cousin just moved to Minnestota. Which lake is that on? I know he’s close to the Canadian border. He’s Canadian, but married an American, and he just became an American citizen last year, age 59.”
Yes, Minnesota is on Lake Superior, but it also has 10,000 or so lakes (according ot Wikipedia, 11,842 lakes of at least 10 acres (about 4 hectare). So when I read your question about which lake that’s on, I almost ROLF.
Shika, washing dishes, was that a hint? It’s not my dishwashing night, but I can try to sneak your dishes in with ours. Hopefully #1 daughter won’t notice but, if she does, I don’t know you.
bmonk, Michigan has more lakes than Minnesota, but we already had the Great Lakes State nickname, so we gave them Land of 10,000 lakes.
Good night Tabby.
Cleo, says the guy with all the naked avatars…
johnnyWhich posts do you mean? If referring to those directed to Doc- I wnt to know when it is safe to put my guard down to go to sleep. Of course, asking him is like asking a General for the other side what his battle plans are. LOL
Also, can you guess which lake Superior, WI is on?
Other trivial facts of interest (well, to me at least):
The ocean ports furthest inland in the world are Superior, WI and Duluth, MN.
The total shoreline of the Minnesota lakes gives the state more shore than California, Florida, and Hawaii combined.
If Michigan and Huron are considered one lake, then it is the largest freshwater lake in area in the world. If they are two, then they are forth and third respectively, and Superior is the biggest.
The largest volume of fresh water is Lake Baikal in Russia; the second is Lake Tanganyika in Africa, then comes Superior.
Lake Baikal is so deep that its deepest point is below sea level.
bmonk Just over 11,000 lakes? Pish! Georgian Bay has over *30,000 Islands!
Well, I guess I’ll never figure out where my cousin lives until I get his new address. He just said it was on a lake. He didn’t tell us there were over 10,000 bleeeping lakes!
@johnnydoc, near as ‘net research tells, Michigan claims 11037 lakes; Minnesota 11,842. On the other hand, Michigan touches four of the five Great Lakes; Minnesota only one. Gripping hand, Alaska claims some 3 million lakes.
Story goes that when Alaska was applying to be a state, the Texas congressional delegation complained because they wouldn’t be number 1 in area anymore.
Alaska delegate replied that had a simple solution: split Alaksa in two, and Texas could be no. 3
No more was heard from Texas against the statehood of Alsaka.
OPPs Sorry johnny- can’t have you wondering why I started bleeeeping. If you read the posts on the previous page, you’ll see a reference or two to hell that wasn’t bleeped. so I tested the waters with hell, heck, and darn. Only darn was bleeeeped. Hence the funny looking sentences.
No, but like any wisdom saying, you must adapt it to your own circumstances. For you, it should say, “Why keep a cat and hiss and spit and growl for yourself?”
On the other hand, it sometimes is fun to hiss and growl like a cat, especially when some animal deserves it. On the other other hand, I don’t have a cat (or a dog either), so I am justified in barking or howling or hissing or any other dang-blasted sound I care to make.
Ah that explains it- HEY wait are you saying I have a small mind? I have half a mind to be angry with you… as soon as I find the other half, then you’ll get it. lol.
bmonk, I’m going to jump to the bottom here, so I may be asking a question that was already asked, but didn’t the Edmond Fitzgerald sink in Lake Superior? You know, the event was made famous by Gordon Lightfoots ballad.
Yes, if I recall, it was not too far from port when it sank. 13 miles?
Back when the politicians from around Lake Champlain were petitioning for Great Lake status for that lake, some wags from the real Great Lakes offered to sell an ore boat to the locals around Champlain, which they could then use as a bridge!
I don’t know how far it was from port, and I could be wrong, but I don’t think they ever found the wreckage, which seemed strange to me, since it was a lake, yeah a big one but still? I’m not familiar with what you’re saying in your 2nd paragraph.
Dry, I don’t remember too well, but 10 or 20 years back, some pols from New York and Vermont wanted to get Great Lake status for Lake Champlain on their border. It grants some relief from tarriffs and the like, I think.
Anyway, the pols from the real Great Lakes, in which you can run boats like the Edmund Fitzgerald, were making the point that Lake Champlain is a bit smaller and (especially) narrower than even Erie or Ontario.

Bliss.

That does sound very nice, my goal is to someday own a house on Lake Michigan. Then I won’t need a sound machine.

Well, what can I say, I am a pacifist… sometimes… Minnesota is partially touching Lake Superior. Lake Michigan is a smaller more placid lake that borders Wisconsin and, oddly enough, Michigan.
Shikamoo Premium Member over 15 years ago
Dry Different strokes for different folks. I don’t nap every day, but when I do, it’s often on a Sunday, which some how seems like a good day to rest. I grew up with parents who napped on Sunday.
I’m also part of a contemplative group that practices a rhythm in life of rest and movement. It just suits my personality.

Story goes that when Alaska was applying to be a state, the Texas congressional delegation complained because they wouldn’t be number 1 in area anymore.

No more was heard from Texas against the statehood of Alsaka.

bmonk over 15 years ago
No, but like any wisdom saying, you must adapt it to your own circumstances. For you, it should say, “Why keep a cat and hiss and spit and growl for yourself?”
On the other hand, it sometimes is fun to hiss and growl like a cat, especially when some animal deserves it. On the other other hand, I don’t have a cat (or a dog either), so I am justified in barking or howling or hissing or any other dang-blasted sound I care to make.

bmonk over 15 years ago
Yes, if I recall, it was not too far from port when it sank. 13 miles?
Back when the politicians from around Lake Champlain were petitioning for Great Lake status for that lake, some wags from the real Great Lakes offered to sell an ore boat to the locals around Champlain, which they could then use as a bridge!
Dry and Dusty Premium Member over 15 years ago
