Owlsy - If you are taking orders, I will have a fried egg sandwich. Or, whatever you think would be a good substitute. If you read any of my comments earlier on yesterday’s posts. I will eat most anything, at least once.
Dawn - Hello. I have had the fried egg sandwich discussion before, but it seems like people out here on the west coast have never heard of them. You never see them on breakfast menus. You go back east and they have egg sandwiches with this that and the other thing. I love them.
Happy birthday, Owlsly! I’ll take a page from Serena’s book and provide Krispy Kreme donuts so you won’t have to cook too much! And, of course, pirate coffee by the gallon!
I am going Blue Fishing in the morning…offf the Jersey coast out of belmar….will spend the day fighting the best game fish pound for pound…on light tackle and A mitchle 308 reel….very hard to do with such small tackle…but the fun is in the hook up….heavy steel leader of course…the biggest I have caught on 12 pound stren is 11 pounds…will be on a small boat and will follow the “fleet” out at sunrise…we take care to stay out of there way…cause the mates and captians get antsy if we cut thru there chum slik
Marg - Thank you and she would thank you. Look for my friend when you kayak. He is on the lake a lot as well. He is fairly short , 58, shoulder length salt and pepper hair and has a very nice canoe, made of wood, that was made for him as a gift by a mutual friend. If you meet someone who matches that description, just holler out. Are you Les?
Wow! Sounds like quite a day you’ll have, Owlsly. Be very, very careful and have fun.
And a happy b’day to your lovely wife Cleo. Yes, very few have heard of fried egg sandwiches but they are good!
Hi Carmy and Marg.JFri, Thanks for the Krispy Kremes. I love them too. Not a good diet but what the hey!
Owlsly, looks like you planned a wonderful birthday outing. Hope you make some good catches.

Greeting all. I just stopped in to say hi. Happy birthday Owlsly I hope you have a great day.
Cleo tell your wife Happy Birthday for yesterday from me.
It looks like donuts have arrived by way of JFri so I will bring some sliced melons.
Am I too late for a fried egg sandwich? Toasted? With some really crisp bacon? And some juice?
, congratulations on being first Owlsly, and Happy Birthday! Good luck fishing!
Good Morning to the night crew.
Good morning Akenta!
Hello Tennessee Charlie! Don’t think I’ve seen you anywhere around here before, have I?
Yes JFri,
Doc I didn’t read yesterdays comment until this mornig so I didn’t get a chance to meet your lady friend.
Wildcheetah welcome. I look forward to meeting you. I hope you won’t be scared off from the nut house because this is a really fun place to spend time.
Happy Birthday to Owlsley and to Cleo’s wife (hehe, had to go back and type “to” after the and when I realized it sounded like she was married to both Owlsley AND Cleo)
Egg and bacon sandwich sounds good, I only managed to grab a piece of toast before heading out the door this morning.
Happy Birthday Owlsly - 53 is the new 35, 4 more years and you will match Jack Benny @ 39. ☺
Happy to meet your gal Drtoon, hope these yappy nuts don’t do irreparable damage to her sense of humor; but she already has been exposed to you and you do have an extra-ordinary gift of humor and we are glad you share. Welcome wildcheetah. ☼
dry - I knew about goobers but not almonds. I looked them up and almonds and pistachios, although growing on trees, are related to olives and cherries, etc. so will maybe try them out, thanks for the input. ☺

Owlsly: Hippo birdy two ewe, hippo birdy two ewe. Hippo birdy, hippo birdy. Hippo birdy two ewe.
Good luck with those blues. They are fun to catch, but watch the teeth when you take ‘em off the hook. My cousin used to keep a bat and pair of pliers in the boat. The pliers were for unhooking blues. The bat was for sand sharks and skates.
Hey Tribe! I’m just making an appearance to say I’ll be away from the computer most of the day.
I don’t get the strip-except that if Courtney is like Britteny Spears- then I get it. Wouldn’t Dusty be better suited to going in the cage?
Glad to have met Sweety Doc. She seems to fit right in. I can’t believe that your personality here is just the tip of the iceberg. BRRRR. That’s a chilling thought. :-D
And Carmy, Way to go girl, but just watch yourself. Next time it will be the mailman. At one time it may have been the milk man or the bread man or the ice man. Anyone remember when these guys came by the house with horse and carriage. Now that dates me!
dawn, not in a horse and carriage, but I remember the milkman coming door to door in his truck, and the potato chip man with potato chips, pretzels, and cheese puffs in big tin cans. And the Jewel tea man, and the wonderful green ice cream truck in the summer! Progress, yeah, some progress they can take and stick it where the sun don’t shine!!!
DocT, don’t worry, you’ve been very discreet. I’m sure your sweetie won’t mind.
Dry, we still have the ice cream trucks or at least the kids who come through the neighbourhoods. We hear the music regularly during the summer. Never did have a potato chip man, though. Would have been nice.
The milk man moved from horse and wagon to a truck when I was little but I still remember the draft horses. Such massive animals. The ice man and bread man disappeared very early too - a short time after a Safeway’s opened up down the street. We still had the milk man in his truck, though. Even when my boys were young.
I forgot to mention, our old house had a coal chute and the coal man was there when I was very small but Dad converted to natural gas so he didn’t come any more.
We still have an ice cream truck that comes to the lake. There is something comforting about hearing the same old song playing over and over again as it gets nearer.
Dawn I used to deliver milk (in a pickup truck though) - I grew up on a farm and we had about a dozen customers that bought milk from us. Interesting note with the allergy conversation, milk allergies are commonly linked to feeding babies processed (pasteurized, homogenized) milk at too young of an age (less than 2 yrs) We had a number of families with kids that couldn’t drink store-bought milk, but could drink raw milk straight from the farm.
We also had a coal furnace, but we had to go to the mine ourselves to get coal. The clinkers and ash made good traction material for the driveway though.
Hi all!
Big doings in Big Top since my last post I see.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY OWLSLY!
Welcome to the party Wildcheetah, Tennessee Charlie, and anyone else I might have missed!
Terry, sending you lots of prayers and happy thoughts, I hope it all works out!
Re: Sherlock Holmes, from yesterday.
RRAmom, I forget the title, but the one I am on now is about a picture and a German prince. I do intend to finish the entire book which has a lot of stories in it.
lol i understand that… i just relised i didn’t go back to last nights stuff. will do that soon. i was gone all day and catching up on things around here as well.
getting off for a while bbl. have a great evening all. peace and love.
shika
i know i will miss you as always. so i hope you are well. we need to figure out what time you get on so i can see you/talk to you. hope you had a good day.
doctortoon - It seems like you have awakened the masses. It is much better than awakening the Mrs.
JFri - I have Jeff Beck’s “Truth” CD on right now. I thought of you as I was listening to it. I am not sure if you are a fan or not, but I’m betting that you are.
yes please be alert while driving… when not driving you may be as unalert as you would like… now off to do the dishes and pick up the kitchen. see you all later… may be going walk afterwards not sure if ill be back here b4 walk or after. if after doc have a great night at work… if your off tonight have a great night. see you all later on peace and love till i get back.
Sorry to hear about your dog! I would have sent a hug your way earlier, but something got posted on page 1 after my last post, that made my filter block it. I just finally figured out how to look at page 2 & later for today, without going to page 1 first.
Dawn - No, you’re not in KS. Right now, we don’t have any watches or warnings out. This morning a little T-storm came through that knocked my electricity out for a couple of hours. There was a storm that peeled off a roof in the NE part of the state this morning. But everything is quiet here now.
RRAmom - Thank you for the hug. Things are starting to be a little less emotional. It is funny how thing work in my brain though. I was going out to pick blueberries, raspberries and strawberries from our yard & I was thinking about Cleo and yesterday evening and while I am thinking about it I decided to set the containers on our entryway rug and thought, I better not put them there Cleo might get them full of hair. Irrational thinking.
Owlsly- How was your birthday? Did fishing work out for you my friend? Hope you enjoyed the trip and put all else out of your head except the serenity of the moment.
okay all, im about to go for my walk… i may not get back on today. im just tired and fed up with my dad and i want to get away. so when i get back i may go to bed early. if so peace and love all.
cleo, It’s not irrational thinking! I can’t explain it, but you know what I mean, my friend! We’ve both been there, so we know! One thing I didn’t tell you, at one time we had three dogs, lost the one, and for days the other two went everywhere looking for Susie, our yellow lab, they didn’t eat for about 4 days. When the time is right for you, you will get another dog, not to replace Cleo but to let Cleo’s spirit live on and to find a new friend who needs you, too
((((((((((((Cleo)))))))))))))))).
hello Tribe, the day was great…fishing was fantastic, weather was awesome sea was calm…no pirates in sight…loli am burnt to a crisp and tyred…thanks for all the bday wishes I can use em…sleep well…I love you guys and gals !!!
I guess I spoke too soon. There’s another t-storm coming this way. But the weather alarm didn’t go off like it did this morning, so it isn’t expected to get severe. It is just a thin line of rain - I went out to the deck because it looked like the sunset might be pretty tonight. Had to walk out almost to the cliff, because with the leaves on the trees, I couldn’t get a good view of the sky. While I was waiting for the sun to drop lower, I saw lightning! Oh well, it is better than having brown crunchy grass like we have often had in July. Supposed to reach over 100F tomorrow, so summer is here!
johnny - I hope you enjoy your book! We enjoyed all of them, but there was one where the snake was hanging from the ceiling above a bed. Really gave my hubby the creeps! (Especially with his tube with his CPAP machine attacking him during the night.) I can’t think of the particular story you mentioned, but I think I read all of them.
okay i just wanted to tell you all i was back from my walk and im safe. no need to worry, i know you guys and gals will…. unlike some other people in my life…. never mind its all good im fine….. :0I so anyways im back and im going get cleaned up and go to bed b4 10. goodnight all.
Carmy hey was the guy cute? lol dont do it… just smile tell him thank you, but im married and my husband would not approve or my self or my kids or God. and see what he says. lol
Akenta night. sorry i missed you again.
Dry i see. i new you were smart. lol
bye bye you guys. if i cant sleep after my dad goes to bed ill be back on. :0)
JFri - You really do want to be alert when you’re in rattlesnake country! I think there are some probably not real far from us, but thankfully, haven’t heard of any reports in our neighborhood. Copperheads, yes - rattlesnakes, no. Copperheads aren’t near as aggressive, but you don’t want to step on one, or pick it up.
Tabby, He’s like really young. I’m not a good age guesser, he might be older than he looks. He’s okay looking, but whatever. I told him, “No, not gonna happen.”
Rmom*, yeah the copperhead has a very low mortality rate, too, as their venom isn’t nearly as potent as a rattler’s! In CA they have Mojave Green rattlers that have a hybrid venom that attacks both tissue (hemolytic) and the nervous system (neurolytic). A very serious combination. They evolved their venom because their main prey, the kangaroo rat, has developed an immunity to hemolytic venom!
JFri
I know if I have to pick between two poisonous snakes to have around, I’d take the copperhead over the rattlesnake anyday! I’m far from a snake expert, but I did realize that the venom on copperheads isn’t nearly as bad as many other poisonous snakes. We have a fair amount of non-poisonous snakes around here, in addition to the copperheads, but haven’t seen any since last fall.
Owlsly - I am glad that your birthday was great, but my man, you didn’t tell us any fish stories about the ones that you caught or the ones that got away.
Sunblock before hand is my mantra. I hate sunburns. I have the type of skin that is very tolerant of sun, so I only put sunblock on my face and the top of my old balding head. Unfortunately, I have some hair up there that is thinning, but not bald and that is where I have a problem, because I can’t put sunblock there. I also can’t wear hats because they make me to warm. Yesterday, I bought a Dorfman hat with a brim and a top with ventilated mesh sides. I also bought the hat a size to big so it wouldn’t fit tightly on my head. Haven’t tried it out yet , but I hope that it works. My wife’s family is prone to skin cancer so she has to be careful. Heal without pain my friend.
OK, Carmy, those water moccasins have a potent hemolytic venom and a VERY aggressive nature! Don’t trust them at all!
Rmom, odd that you haven’t seen any of the non venomous varieties! We used to have a lot of copperheads in KY but I never had a real close encounter with one. Rattlers? A *very different story there!
Dry, very nice of your friend, I’m sure!
Carmy, ANY time around the pirate is too much! Look how badly he has suckered me into drinking rum! It’s ALL his fault, ya know!
Shika & hymenoxis - Welcome back. hymenoxis we have missed your diligent cleaning. It’s a mess around here. Rats have been around. Ants have been loving the spilled rum that the pirate has plied us with. Food is on the floor and walls. I tell you, you just can’t take us anywhere. But woooo, do we know how to party.
JFri I might see more snakes if I was outside more. Skin cancer runs in my family (Dad, Mom, brother - so far), so I don’t spend a lot of time outside. I dislike sunblock or sunburns, so as long as I don’t stay out too long, or go out after about 4pm, that helps. If I have to be outside for very long during the peak of the day, I put on long sleeves, etc. But with teaching, surfing, laundry, etc., I usually have plenty to keep me inside.
Do you people ever empty your ash trays? I mean, look at this….it’s got butts, Hershey’s Kiss wrappers, what
I can only assume are salt water taffey wrappers,a broken car key fob, and….what is this….a condom?
carmy, marg and joy and dawn, tabby and serenasakitty
-Hi gals! Miss you all when I’m away. I’ll try to get on earlier tomorrow night to chat. I just have a lot to do,and then I’ll be away from Friday morning until Sunday evening- no search party’s
Joy Two timing the pirate? Oh well, I guess a geek is no threat- maybe…
hymenoxis, don’t you just love that! Theres the garbage can, step on the pedal! Can’t blame me for that one,or any of us ladies! We know who did it! Men, honestly, were they all raised in a barn? :-D Except you hymenoxis!! Some gentlemen do have manners!!
Just kidding guys, you know I love you, even if some of you are slobs, but I won’t name names!!
doc, however I do like mac and cheese and often with Rotels tomatoes and chile peppers mixed in. YUMMY!
Whatever you bring for my lunch tmr. will be fine, but if its Kids Cuisine, bring about 3 trays!! LOL
carmy and dry- Sorry I yelled at you. I’m a little brat! :-)
You are right- I can’t see the Tribe from the Library. and this time of year, it’s almost empty. The only danger is falling asleep. I’ve done that too upon occasion.
I had a nice evening afterwards. I was given a coupon for Swiss Chalet and I had a great meal complete with a butterscotch sundae for free. Yum!
Hey Doc Tiny dish towels? What on earth for? innocent look.
Did you see my post the other day asking for the big Stouffer’s Lasangne? Do they have those where you work? That’s all I eat, if I do buy frozen food- which is a splurge on my budget.
carmy Yes. the whole meal was delicious. I had the spinach salad with mandarin oranges and red currrants with poppy seed dressing along with the quarter chicken and fries.
What a lovely group you guys have got here. I feel awkward in my attempts to participate, and I think I go a little overboard, but you’re a forgiving bunch. Forgiving enough that I will sneak some time from work tomorrow…and the day after…just to lurk and see who’s up to what….
hymenoxis - Don’t lurk. I enjoy your sense of humor and contributions. You are far from awkward. You make yourself a unique addition to the tribe. Post if you want to, or don’t, but I can only speak for myself, but I enjoy your comments. In fact, I was wondering what had happened to you over the last few days.
Dry - Annacortes is a little community about an hour from me that is on Fidalgo Island. From there you can catch ferries to take you to the San Juan Islands and Vancouver Island, BC. It is a fishing village and has some interesting galleries and a wonderful park that overlooks the sound.
I am going to watch the last half of a movie we started a few nights ago. I doubt that I will be back before the strip change over. Thank you all for your support and friendship. It has been a very beneficial step in the healing process. You are good friends.
hymenoxis Thanks for cleaning up. And welcome back. We missed you.
It was the storm that made the mess! No, we didn’t have a tornado, but it sure poured down.
JFri I’ve always wanted to take the Anacortes ferry from Sydney but haven’t yet. I was really upset that they ere talking about stopping it. Glad they didn’t. Now if they’d only have better hours.
Shika you need some relaxation away from studying. But your dinner sounds delicious. I’ll have to order it one day. There’s a great Swiss Chalet in Victoria.
Too funny, and honestly NOT political:
OOPS
The beguiling view prominently displayed on the U.S. Senate Environment and Public Works Committee website showed a classic mountain shot: snowcapped peaks towering over azure waters.
The alluring Rocky Mountains vista, though, was actually a view of Alberta’s Lake Louise.
I have always loved Calgary. The city is located in the flat prairie landscape, yet in the distance you see this grand display of mountains. Granted, I would rather be in a community like Cochrane.
Yes it is beautiful. I was born here and still love it but the island is now my home. We get back, though, very frequently.
Well, it is now past eleven, so I bid you adieu. ‘til tomorrow.

Those were the Days!♫♪♫♪♫♪cleokaya over 15 years ago
We still have an ice cream truck that comes to the lake. There is something comforting about hearing the same old song playing over and over again as it gets nearer.
Digital Frog over 15 years ago

They evolved their venom because their main prey, the kangaroo rat, has developed an immunity to hemolytic venom!
carmy over 15 years ago
You know exactly what I mean. Is that supposed to be a halo? It should be HORNS!!
The Duke 1 over 15 years ago
Carrrrmy!!!!! I can’t believe you said that about me! It’s not like I’m the pirate! ya know!
Smiley Rmom over 15 years ago
JFri I know if I have to pick between two poisonous snakes to have around, I’d take the copperhead over the rattlesnake anyday!

The Duke 1 over 15 years ago
OK, Carmy, those water moccasins have a potent hemolytic venom and a VERY aggressive nature! Don’t trust them at all!
Rmom, odd that you haven’t seen any of the non venomous varieties! We used to have a lot of copperheads in KY but I never had a real close encounter with one. Rattlers? A *very different story there!

Smiley Rmom over 15 years ago
JFri I might see more snakes if I was outside more. Skin cancer runs in my family (Dad, Mom, brother - so far), so I don’t spend a lot of time outside. I dislike sunblock or sunburns, so as long as I don’t stay out too long, or go out after about 4pm, that helps. If I have to be outside for very long during the peak of the day, I put on long sleeves, etc. But with teaching, surfing, laundry, etc., I usually have plenty to keep me inside.

Doc I doubt I’ll remember or have time to check in here. I usually roll out of bed and on to the bus in the morning.
But, if there is cake involved, or a gift, well, maybe I can drag myself out here before I skeedadle up north……..

I mean, Dry. If you didn’t ignore all my posts, I would HAVE to shout. #:-P
Shikamoo Premium Member over 15 years ago
Make that “wouldn’t” have to shout.
And now it’s almost bedtime. pout

hymenoxis, don’t you just love that! Theres the garbage can, step on the pedal! Can’t blame me for that one,or any of us ladies! We know who did it! Men, honestly, were they all raised in a barn? :-D Except you hymenoxis!! Some gentlemen do have manners!!
Just kidding guys, you know I love you, even if some of you are slobs, but I won’t name names!!
carmy over 15 years ago
SHIKA, STOP YELLING. you were probably able to do more at the library because there were less distractions.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member over 15 years ago
As in less distractions meaning no access to the Big Top tribe?
Shikamoo Premium Member over 15 years ago
hymenoxis- You think THIS is bad- you should see around here. We’re into the second week of a civil strike- garbage blowing all over the play. Ugh.
And that “C” word, they’re all over too. what on earth happens? Drive-by whoopy?
hymenoxis over 15 years ago
Dry….I’ve had the pleasure of knowing some pretty nasty women in my life…not that I minded cleaning up afterwards.

doc, just saw your post about Kids Cuisine! Are you kidding me? That would just be an appetizer! * I want real food, lots of it, and NOW!!!*
Dry and Dusty Premium Member over 15 years ago
doc, however I do like mac and cheese and often with Rotels tomatoes and chile peppers mixed in. YUMMY! Whatever you bring for my lunch tmr. will be fine, but if its Kids Cuisine, bring about 3 trays!! LOL
hymenoxis over 15 years ago
Shika- I live in Texas. If such a strike were to occur here, I’m pretty sure I’m legally permitted to hunt them down and kill them.
Shikamoo Premium Member over 15 years ago
hymenoxis- Just where are you? What sheets?
carmy and dry- Sorry I yelled at you.
Yum!
Shikamoo Premium Member over 15 years ago
Stay where you are my friend. That’s all we need- bodies littering up the place. LOL
carmy over 15 years ago
hymenoxis, if you don’t gave a gun handy, you can get a rope. Shika, yum, butterscotch sundae. Was it delicious?

See you later, Doc. P&L!

Hey Doc Tiny dish towels? What on earth for? innocent look.
Did you see my post the other day asking for the big Stouffer’s Lasangne? Do they have those where you work? That’s all I eat, if I do buy frozen food- which is a splurge on my budget.
hymenoxis over 15 years ago
Shika-….sorry, the “sheets” reference was a call-back to my previous “nasty women” comment….too obtuse….my apologies.

JFri - Annacortes is a fun community and they have a wonderful street fair in August.
doctortoon - Wouldn’t we look cute out shopping together.
I can’t believe it. I get a condolence call, that goes on for maybe a half hour or more and we move form like page 4 to page 6.

cleo, I got a picture in my head of you and Doc out shopping, very cute and hilarious.

What a lovely group you guys have got here. I feel awkward in my attempts to participate, and I think I go a little overboard, but you’re a forgiving bunch. Forgiving enough that I will sneak some time from work tomorrow…and the day after…just to lurk and see who’s up to what….
Shikamoo Premium Member over 15 years ago
and now, I must bid “adieu,” et “bon nuit” to mix things up a bit.
I suddenly feel wiped out- pardon the pun hymenoxis!

hymenoxis - Don’t lurk. I enjoy your sense of humor and contributions. You are far from awkward. You make yourself a unique addition to the tribe. Post if you want to, or don’t, but I can only speak for myself, but I enjoy your comments. In fact, I was wondering what had happened to you over the last few days.
hymenoxis over 15 years ago
Dry…quit using bold italics, and I’ll think about it.
carmy over 15 years ago
hymenoxis, I agree with what Dry said. No need to lurk. Thanks for remembering the ice cream, Doc! Shika, goodnight?

Dry - Annacortes is a little community about an hour from me that is on Fidalgo Island. From there you can catch ferries to take you to the San Juan Islands and Vancouver Island, BC. It is a fishing village and has some interesting galleries and a wonderful park that overlooks the sound.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member over 15 years ago
hymenoxis, I just recently learned how to do that, so forgive me for showing off a bit!!

DawnAvril over 15 years ago
Too funny, and honestly NOT political: OOPS The beguiling view prominently displayed on the U.S. Senate Environment and Public Works Committee website showed a classic mountain shot: snowcapped peaks towering over azure waters.
The alluring Rocky Mountains vista, though, was actually a view of Alberta’s Lake Louise.

Goodnight Dry! Goodnight hymenoxis!
Well, I’m going to try and see the new comic changeover. I am bit tired so maybe, maybe not.
cleokaya over 15 years ago
Dawn - I hadn’t heard that they had thought of stopping the ferry run from Annacortes to Sydney. That would be very stupid.
DawnAvril over 15 years ago
Sydney was charging too much for dockage and Anacortes didn’t want to renew for more than three years. Compromise is always good.
cleokaya over 15 years ago
Dawn - So you are in Calgary now?
DawnAvril over 15 years ago
Just for a holiday with my Dad and kids. Missing the rain on the island but getting it here in buckets!
cleokaya over 15 years ago
I have always loved Calgary. The city is located in the flat prairie landscape, yet in the distance you see this grand display of mountains. Granted, I would rather be in a community like Cochrane.
DawnAvril over 15 years ago
Yes it is beautiful. I was born here and still love it but the island is now my home. We get back, though, very frequently. Well, it is now past eleven, so I bid you adieu. ‘til tomorrow.
