My, that pool I go to is a zoo sometimes! That’s why there’s always a lake near my home to fall back on. Get it? “Fall back on”? Oh, never mind. I’ll just be glad when those little urchins called children are back in school again!

RMom what will you do with all your spare time once your youngest is at college? Hi everyone else I missed! Dora, Bmonk, Redhat and tink and?

Dawn - I’m not too worried about filling my “spare time” next year. My sister & I (with a little help from our brothers) need to clean out Mom’s house, in preparation for selling once Mom dies. Mom is bedridden, and not expected to live real long. My husband & I plan on selling this house & moving to the town where my hubby works. There is a lot of work to do in that regards. I’ll probably do some substitute teaching, and take some additional college. Then there is always the possibility of volunteering somewhere, and doing sewing and/or craft projects. (Like catching up my boys’ scrapbooks!) I’ve never been one to sit around and watch soaps, so I don’t plan on starting. Spare time has always been in short supply for me, so I’m looking forward to doing somethings that I just haven’t had much time to do before.

I hear, you RMom I got into volunteering big time when my boys were young. Then I went back to work when I found I was essentially working for the school board and not being paid for it. Kept them in the public system because it is a very good one. It paid off! I hope your economy picks up when you go to sell the homes. From my reading, at least things seem to have leveled off a little. They have here. YGuy, I had to get my passport when we went to Mexico with my Dad. Glad I did - since then, I have just kept it up - much easier than letting it lapse. There are a few Canucks on this site - DF*, *Shika, YGuy and me. Did I miss anyone?

BTW, RMom, is your mom still in her home?

Dry I’m with you about corn dogs, but my kids love them!

Dawn - Yes, Mom is still in her home. My sister lives with her as her primary caregiver, with others coming in to relieve her. If it wasn’t for my sister, Mom would have to be in a facility. Thank goodness Dad left enough money to pay for what Social Security & Medicare doesn’t cover. I do hope the economy gets better by the time I get Mom’s estate settled. That is one of the reasons we’ve delayed moving. My hubby lives in a 5th wheel trailer, coming home on weekends, and that is working out okay. There are several reasons that moving right now doesn’t seem the best timing.

RRA are the initials of our homeschool. I don’t recognize the songs you mention, but I never was into rock. Soft pop, country or Christian are the genres I’m more familiar with. I would think exterior plastering would have to be done in dry weather.

Living up in the boondocks on Georgian Bay, I think I listened mostly to my sister’s boyfriend’s music- good old 1950’s style juke box music, LOL Even though it was already old, as the Beatles were just getting big in the 60’s.

JFri, it’s just that sometimes, I will get sad thinking about the “good old days.” I miss them, it was days of no problems and no worries.

Carmy, i had a blast those days but I refuse to stop having a blast! I still play hockey, ride ALL the roller coasters at Magic Mountain, hike, mountain bike, SCUBA dive. Maybe not as well as I used to, but……I may grow old but i refuse to grow up!

Carmy—I miss the good ole carefree days without the problems too, but, I wouldn’t trade those “good days” for what I have today unless I knew I’d be right back here again. Problems or not I am the…………………

JFri, I am another one who refuses to grow up. I have matured, slightly (and there are some things my poor arthritic knees and my size will no longer allow), but I still play as much as I can.
