I have had Dusty’s experience where you will do anything to cool off on a hot, sandy beach.
Breakfast today is chinese crepes with fried eggs and hot chili sauce, fried rice with roasted red peppers, caramelized onions and roasted garlic. Fresh cubes of cantaloupe, honeydew and seedless watermelon. Fresh blueberries, strawberries and raspberries. I have honey wheat toast and homemade plum/peach jam.
Since I have been gone I see doctortoon has become one of the big boys that have earned capital letters and is now Doctor Toon. I can only hope that your coffee still has a substantial kick.
Carmy - Hello. The bottoms of my feet are so sensitive that if a soda was big enough for me to jump into, I would. Plus, think how could the carbonated bubbles would feel. LOL
Good Morning Cleo—I’ll have chinese crepes with fried eggs and hot chili sauce, fried rice with roasted red peppers and of course Nuked coffee from the pipeline! Good to see you my friend!!
Good morning Cleo, bigg, Carmy, and Terry! I’ll have the Chinese crepes without the hot sauce. Nice to have you back, Cleo. Hope you had a good visit with your friend.
bigg & Lonewolf - Hello to you both. Breakfast is served. I am calling it a night. My friend’s plane leaves early tomorrow, so I am hitting the sack. See you all in a few hours.
Goodnight to all who are still here. Sleep well.
Carmy I may or may not ride tomorrow. We’ll see how I feel in the AM. I slept quite a bit this afternoon.
hi Tribe
finally got here!
thanks for brekkie cleo (and welcome back)! i’ll have a bit of everything. (not that i’m greedy, i just like to try things i’ve never tried before.)
i take it we haven’t heard anything from dry yet? i’m trying to keep positive thoughts on her behalf.
(((((DRY!)))))
Terry & Digital Frog i, too, remember flip-flops being called “thongs” but no longer think of flip-flops first when i hear the word thong. kind of like when folks refer to someone as “gay” and the first thought that comes to mind isn’t “happy” any more. language changes, i guess.
JFri when you fill in for someone else’s position, it’s best that you not do too good a job at it. i’d say you filled in admirably well if no one made any comments in regards to your doing so.
Carmy i loved the pun on page one about getting sand and Dust(y) in her soda. i consider myself somewhat of an afficionado, and that one certainly ranks.
time for the tour, be back later.
Questions are starting to pop up regarding Dry’s dad. She has given me permission to let the Tribe know that her dad fell in his home and is in the hospital. His condition is serious and they BOTH need all our prayers!
Welcome back, cleo!Terry - I also called flip-flops thongs until my kids were old enough to know about the current definition of thongs.
Hi, doc! You need to straighten out Josh’s cousin, she seems to think the nuclear coffee is Terry’s creation, instead of yours.
i guess no one is around right now, so i’ll just send out a general TTFN to the tribe, since it’s time for me to get ready for work.
special thoughts (again? still?) to Dry and her Dad.
I tried to use the pic of the “Shika move” for my avatar (got it saved to my HD), but it wouldn’t animate, so didn’t look right. I just happened to have this, so decided to use it until I find something I like better.
Well, back to school…..
I am back to my outside watering detail. I pretty much didn’t water at all when my friend was here so everything needs it. I am taking a moment to catch up before lunch and then back to the hoses.
Ah, home from work! Welcome everyone! It won’t be long now! I’ll be joining you all again on the weekdays again real soon! I know you all miss my jokes. Speaking of jokes, how are you doing, TerryLonewolf?
Maybe we’re just showing our age, JFri. I don’t remember how old you are, but I’m 50. I remember my mom telling us many times she couldn’t hear our heads rattling when we nodded. It might have something to do with being part of a large family (5 kids) - she didn’t have time to look at each of us when she asked questions.
Good evening Tribe. I still have to make my rounds before I try and wake up docT. I can’t let dry down when she has more important things to worry about. Here’s another big deposit into the bank for her.
Cleo - Every time you mention watering, I’m so thankful we only have no/low maintenance vegetation. We don’t have to do any yard work on our five acres, except for mowing. The trees & lilac bushes we planted needed watering the first year, but we haven’t had to water anything for over ten years. Well, except for our geo-thermal grid. But we buried a soaker hose with that, so it is just the matter of turning a valve on & off, and only 1-2 times a year.
Thanks, johnny. I can’t say I love teaching Algebra, but at least I’m doing okay understanding it. Radical and imaginary numbers are wacko, in my opinion. I prefer geometry when it comes to math, except I hate writing proofs. I don’t remember having to do proofs when I took it in high school, but every geometry curriculum I could find for my sons requires the proofs to be listed for each problem. I did accounting for a living until I became a mom, and those numbers make a whole lot more sense than Algebra!
Lonewolf - I am finishing up today’s watering. More tomorrow plus mowing and all that entails.
RRAmom - My wife is a master gardener and has gradually been turning our yard into a park. In the last 3 years wed have removed 3 banks of invasive ivy, blackberries and St. John’s Wart. We have replaced them with native plants. Once they have become established I won’t have to water so much.
I LOVE algebra, geometry was ok, but kinda annoying with the proofs. Imaginary numbers are pointless, and radical numbers can just be rounded with minimal problems.
RRAmom I also love algebra (and most theoretical math). I did enjoy doing proofs in geometry, but that was a long time ago. Like to think I would still enjoy it. I thought accounting was ok, but once it got to depreciation, I just shook my head. I’ve always had a balanced checkbook at least.
I was very good at Algebra, but could not get interested in Geometry. So, I dropped it and took up typing. Which has been of much more use to me, having been a writer. It helps here at Big Top too.
Cleo - A few of our neighbors make theirs look like a park, but usually after a few years, either they sell & move, or else scale back a little after they realize how much time it takes. Between skin cancer running in my family, ticks, mosquitoes & snakes, I’m not really an outdoors lover. I love my lilacs, but other than that, I don’t really care. My mom & dad gardened a lot, and made us kids help. My sister loves gardening, but the rest of us aren’t fond of it. The soil where I live is mostly gravel, so difficult to plant without using a tractor. Most of our acreage is still in native prairie grass, and probably has never been toiled.
RRAmom native prairie grasses are pretty cool in their own right.
to the rest of the gardeners, you remind me of my late mother. she came from a family that owned a nursery, and the yard at the house got taken over by her garden and was just gorgeous. we had a greenbelt running behind the house, and people would stop to chat if they saw her in the yard (because it looked so good). remembering her garden is a happy memory for me and my siblings.
RRAmom - My wife will never tire of gardening. It is what she was meant to do as a hobby. Our little spot here is paradise. Friends and family come for vacation and no matter how stressful their job, by the time that they leave they are totally relaxed and have fallen for our view. I was dragged into gardening very reluctantly, but I have found a few things that need to be done that I enjoy, like the watering and I love how the plants respond. It also is a task that allows me to be outdoors, which I do love. It is also mindless, so I can let my mind wander and just appreciate the sounds of the birds.
cleo - I’m glad you enjoy the watering! I do like pretty flower beds, and some garden produce, but it is just plain hard work for me. My back and/or knees also can’t handle that sort of work very well. I would have to have raised beds if I wanted to do much gardening, but since I don’t really enjoy it, I don’t.
Terry - I’m sure several are having dinner. We’re still finishing up school. “Oliver Twist” on DVD is playing (I watched last night) and a science experiment has to sit an hour before we can look at the results.
yyyguy - Prairie grass is pretty in a field. But we don’t dare let it grow until it reaches full height, because the rodents, snakes, & other critters will hide in it, and I don’t like them that close to the house. We mow it every 2-3 weeks, depending on my husband’s schedule, and if the tractor is working.
Akenta - I did okay with depreciation, but I still have trouble with investments. I can fill out the tax form, because of the 1099 the brokerage firms have to send, but I’m not comfortable with too many forms of investments. I like CD’s - easy enough for me to comprehend, and safe. I’m really more of a “full-charge bookkeeper” than an accountant, but they always called our department the “accounting department.” My boss once told me that I was as valuable as a CPA (even though I don’t have a degree) because I understood the accounting systems we used inside & out. I could do the work well, but it wasn’t challenging enough for me to enjoy it. I like to be creative, but that isn’t legal in accounting.
RRAmom - Just this year we decided to incorporate some edibles in with our perennials and they look great. Instead of planting many annuals we are growing 5 kinds of tomatoes, kale, chard, beans, peas, carrots, squash, lettuce, peppers, eggplant and the fruits we always do, like raspberries, ever - bearing strawberries, blueberries, rhubarb, plums and apples, plus herbs, etc.
Terry - It may seem like a long school day, but we don’t start until 10am. Then at least an hour for lunch, and several short breaks. We do usually get done sooner than this. His World History (which Oliver Twist is for) is something he generally does in his “spare time”, but those are usually biographies, etc. But this movie is checked out from the library, so he doesn’t have as long to get it done. He likes to read, so that’s why he does World History in his “spare time”. I probably would have waited until Friday to have him do the movie, but I’m going to go visit my hubby, and without me here, it probably wouldn’t have gotten watched.
cleo - Planting edibles with the others sounds like a great idea. My problem is that I’m not very good with leaf identification, so I don’t know if I’m pulling a weed or a wanted plant unless I know what the wanted plant’s leaves looks like.
You are in my prayers, Dry and family. Sending lots of happy your way.
As for me, I must head to bed. I never miss an opportunity to get a full night’s sleep. Good night all, and peace and love.
Terry, RL (read: work) interferes with my BT time! Rum & Coke coming your way (better late than never)!
(((((((((((((((Dry))))))))))))))
thanks for the kind words!
Rmom, I knew me & geometry weren’t going to get along when my first assignment was to write a formal proof that proved 1 + 1 = 3!!! I was a serious science student and that was garbage to me! But I needed math due to heavy emphasis on physics & chemistry so I had to take it to move on.
JFri - 1 + 1 = 3? Now THAT is fuzzy math!
I don’t remember anything that illogical. I think my sons & I all got annoyed having to remember the names of all the proofs and writing them down. Rote memory doesn’t seem to be a strong suit in this family. We’d rather figure out how things work, and then it is almost instinctive to us - we don’t have to always think of each step. My son when he took College Algebra said his prof told him he was an anomoly, because he could do most of the work in his head.
I hated doing Accounting in school, because of all the handwriting. In real life, most accounting is done on the computer, and not near as much is written by hand.
I hated writing in school because of having to do most by hand. I did take typing in high school, which has been very helpful with computers. I like writing much better now that I can do it on a computer, so I can go back & edit it without having to re-type (or re-write!) everything again.
I’m going to be scarce for the next two weeks before school, starting tomorrow. I’ll pop in when I’m in town, but I’ll be gone for a few days at a time 3 times before Sept. 14th.
Just to warn all my friends, so you don’t think I tripped over Mua and hurt myself!
Hi, Shika! When we planted our lilac bushes, they were itty bitty seedlings. Took the tractor with a 1 tooth implement, and made a furrow to plant them in a straight line. (Thankfully, that was the way I wanted them - in a straight line!) Had to use the auger attachment to drill holes to plant the trees (pretty small seedlings as well). The closest body of water(?) here is our sewage lagoon, so I sure don’t want to swim there! There is a river not too far away, but the banks nearest us are too steep to climb in & out easily. We used to have a large cattle tank for a wading pool. But when we no longer used it for anything, (other than to breed mosquitoes) we gave it to some friends who were getting a horse.
Sounds like some of you are winding down your day. Goodnight to you. I will be disappearing for dinner shortly and hope that I can make it back. Nice seeing you all again. UM, UH, I mean talking to you all again.
Thanks anyway, Shika! The commute might be a real stretch, anyway. I don’t know if you could handle the heat here either. We’re all real thankful for a/c in this part of the country, it makes it much easier. Many days I never go outside. If I go out for an outside activity, it is either early in the day before it gets hot, or late in the day. But it is nice to look out the windows and see all the pretty growing things.
Dry - Coming right up dear. I snuck a little extra rum in there. Between Lonewolf, JFri & I we will supply whatever you need to make life just a little easier.
Doc thanks for the post about Shoe. I grew up in Virginia and I am so old that I remember when Jeff MacNelly was a young writer for the Richmond News Leader writing editorial comics and satire. Then he won his first Pulitizer and suddenly syndication was all over him. So, naturally when he created Shoe, I was a fan from the beginning. I stopped following it when Jeff died at such a horribly young age. I stop in to look at it on ocassion now, but I haven’t been a regular reader. Maybe I should pick it up again. Anyway, I’m guessing you have collected a page or two of MacNelly’s stuff and you know what I’m talking about.
RRAMom he’s a tough old bird, but I doubt he’ll go home again, just like my mom didn’t! It’s tough, it’s hard, it hurts like HE!! and I don’t know what else to say.
Doc I wonder if you have his editorial comic of the IRS form 1040 he drew in 1976. This was the comic that really got me hooked on his stuff. I was a young man just starting out and I was learning all about income tax and this just knocked me over. I do miss him.
doc - If I were there, I’d help! I’m the one that usually does that sort of stuff around here. My hubby is more the automotive type - “Who cares if it is level as long as it doesn’t fall off?” Therefore, I’m the one who does most of the house projects. My oldest son & I actually argue about who gets to assemble stuff we buy. (Well, we settle it without arguing, but that’s only because I can pull rank on him.)
Dry - I’m sure it is hard. My dad died before they could move into the house Mom is living in, but he was pretty crippled by arthritis which is why they were moving. Mom would have to be in a facility now if my sister hadn’t retired early, and is taking care of her. It is SO rough to see our parents who used to be so independent and strong become dependent and ill.
hymenoxis - Don’t worry about me reading your mind. I’m having enough trouble reading my own some days! (And even more of a challenge to read my hubby’s.)
Hey, hymenoxis! Pay no attention to the mess here in my corner of the BT (I didn’t do it! OK, I was just following orders. Nah, THAT didn’t work at Nurembug, either). OK, I DID IT!!!
Terry….yes, it’s behind the pool house. We had to install it after Doc’s coffee mishap a couple of weeks ago. It’s an Nuclear Energy Committee mandate…don’t worry about it.
Terry, have you looked in my garage? There are so many kegs of rum….how many kegs are there??…. the fire dept. has strict orders to stand back & let ‘er burn!!
The best moonshine I ever had was in the Florida Keys in the early 70’s, made by two brothers from Milwaukee, believe it or not. It was like a fine bourbon, aged and everything.
Okay, I really gotta go…as much as I’d like to help with the general southern accent issue (watch “True Blood”, and ratchet it back a notch from Anna Paquin’s pronunciation), and as much as the carpet in this place needs a major shampoo, I gotta go to bed.
G’night, Y’all. This here purty l’il wai-all flower is done wilted, and needs refreshment-wat-ah, clare, cool wat-ah. And then a sawft ol’ pillow to lay this purty haid.
Only the drunk bouncers, eh, Terry? Pity! LOL
Guess I won’t be going south any time soon- I may say something wrong!
hymenoxis - Nice seeing you again. Goodnight. Good job on the cleanup.
Lonewolf - It is maybe an hour and a half from Corpus Christi and about 20+ miles from McAllen. It is about 19 miles from Progresso, MX (by road, much closer as the crow flies).
Carmy!!! You don’t wanna know what we Nebraskans did with your “hook ‘em horns” sign! (ThatKs where I went to part of my college years!). And don’t even get me started on Oklahomans!
*JFri, of course I will talk to you. My mom had some really good friends from Nebraska. They used to visit us in Texas during the winter. They were “Winter Texans.”
In Oklahoma, they had to pass a law. Auto manufacturers could no longer put the bright lights switch on the turn signal lever. They kept getting their foot caught in the steering wheel!! lol
hi y’all. just got caught up to you yappy nuts after a long night at work. glad to see Dry is all right (more or less) and very sorry to hear about her Dad.
for those who remember my posting from the weekend, my Dad is the same age as hers (i think she said his age earlier). we just wrapped up selling his house a couple of weeks ago though he’s been living in his apartment since mid-May. she’s so right about how hard it is to watch them grow old. Mom passed away a bit over a year ago, and it’s a bit distressing to see how frail he seems to have become since then. though it wasn’t a big house, it was just too big for him to keep up any longer, and it’s for the best. missing Mom is bad enough, to think that he might be gone soon is too hard for me right now. it makes me very sympathetic to what Dry must be going through.
yyy, I believe your dad is 4 years younger than hers. But it IS tough to watch. I had to watch my mom slowly lose her mind over 14 years (Alzheimer’s). It was still hard when she diéd 3 years ago.

johnnydoc5 about 15 years ago
Hello hello hello, Is there anybody IN there? Just nod if you can hear me. Is there anyone at home?
Smiley Rmom about 15 years ago
Can’t you hear my head rattle when I’m nodding?
cleokaya about 15 years ago
Hey johnnydd. I keep getting caught up in RL projects. How are you doing?
The Duke 1 about 15 years ago
I’m nodding, Johnny! Can you hear the rattling?
COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
Hi Johnny–How are you doing today? I can’t hear you above the rattling. lol
Smiley Rmom about 15 years ago
johnny - If you want to chat, got any ideas what subject(s)?
The Duke 1 about 15 years ago
OK, Rmom, THAT is scary….we had the same joke! If THAT doesn’t worry you, it SHOULD!!!
cleokaya about 15 years ago
JFri - I can hear the sound of rum bottles rolling around. It must be getting close to happy hour. Yep, you are nodding.
The Duke 1 about 15 years ago
cleo, you know me too well!! Of, course there is* the occasional *Booker bottle as well!
COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
JFri—Do you have an extra rum and coke there? I think I’m going to be needing one.
johnnydoc5 about 15 years ago
Wow, now people are here! I don’t know what to talk about… how is everyone doing?
Smiley Rmom about 15 years ago
Maybe we’re just showing our age, JFri. I don’t remember how old you are, but I’m 50. I remember my mom telling us many times she couldn’t hear our heads rattling when we nodded. It might have something to do with being part of a large family (5 kids) - she didn’t have time to look at each of us when she asked questions.
COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
Hi Cleo—Did you get your watering done?
johnnydoc5 about 15 years ago

Good evening Tribe. I still have to make my rounds before I try and wake up docT. I can’t let dry down when she has more important things to worry about. Here’s another big deposit into the bank for her.
**((((((DRY))))))
The Duke 1 about 15 years ago
Hey, Terry, can you send me the info on embedding images?
Smiley Rmom about 15 years ago
Cleo - Every time you mention watering, I’m so thankful we only have no/low maintenance vegetation. We don’t have to do any yard work on our five acres, except for mowing. The trees & lilac bushes we planted needed watering the first year, but we haven’t had to water anything for over ten years. Well, except for our geo-thermal grid. But we buried a soaker hose with that, so it is just the matter of turning a valve on & off, and only 1-2 times a year.
COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
Hello Akenta.
COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
JFri—Yes sir.
Smiley Rmom about 15 years ago
Thanks, johnny. I can’t say I love teaching Algebra, but at least I’m doing okay understanding it. Radical and imaginary numbers are wacko, in my opinion. I prefer geometry when it comes to math, except I hate writing proofs. I don’t remember having to do proofs when I took it in high school, but every geometry curriculum I could find for my sons requires the proofs to be listed for each problem. I did accounting for a living until I became a mom, and those numbers make a whole lot more sense than Algebra!
cleokaya about 15 years ago
Lonewolf - I am finishing up today’s watering. More tomorrow plus mowing and all that entails.
RRAmom - My wife is a master gardener and has gradually been turning our yard into a park. In the last 3 years wed have removed 3 banks of invasive ivy, blackberries and St. John’s Wart. We have replaced them with native plants. Once they have become established I won’t have to water so much.
johnnydoc5 about 15 years ago
I LOVE algebra, geometry was ok, but kinda annoying with the proofs. Imaginary numbers are pointless, and radical numbers can just be rounded with minimal problems.
COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
Hey there Mopar and a Good Evening to you also.
Akenta about 15 years ago
RRAmom I also love algebra (and most theoretical math). I did enjoy doing proofs in geometry, but that was a long time ago. Like to think I would still enjoy it. I thought accounting was ok, but once it got to depreciation, I just shook my head. I’ve always had a balanced checkbook at least.
Akenta about 15 years ago
cleo I can’t remember if I welcomed you back or not. So WELCOME BACK
cleokaya about 15 years ago
Akenta - Thanks, it is good to be back.
I was very good at Algebra, but could not get interested in Geometry. So, I dropped it and took up typing. Which has been of much more use to me, having been a writer. It helps here at Big Top too.
:-)COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
Where did you go?
COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
Mopar—top of the page here also. Though I’m not sure why.
Smiley Rmom about 15 years ago
COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
RRAmom–Must be dinner time, huh?
yyyguy about 15 years ago
RRAmom native prairie grasses are pretty cool in their own right. to the rest of the gardeners, you remind me of my late mother. she came from a family that owned a nursery, and the yard at the house got taken over by her garden and was just gorgeous. we had a greenbelt running behind the house, and people would stop to chat if they saw her in the yard (because it looked so good). remembering her garden is a happy memory for me and my siblings.
cleokaya about 15 years ago
RRAmom - My wife will never tire of gardening. It is what she was meant to do as a hobby. Our little spot here is paradise. Friends and family come for vacation and no matter how stressful their job, by the time that they leave they are totally relaxed and have fallen for our view. I was dragged into gardening very reluctantly, but I have found a few things that need to be done that I enjoy, like the watering and I love how the plants respond. It also is a task that allows me to be outdoors, which I do love. It is also mindless, so I can let my mind wander and just appreciate the sounds of the birds.
cleokaya about 15 years ago
yyyguy - I agree, I grew up in the prairies and love to watch the sea of prairie grass blowing in the wind.
Smiley Rmom about 15 years ago
cleo - I’m glad you enjoy the watering! I do like pretty flower beds, and some garden produce, but it is just plain hard work for me. My back and/or knees also can’t handle that sort of work very well. I would have to have raised beds if I wanted to do much gardening, but since I don’t really enjoy it, I don’t.
Smiley Rmom about 15 years ago
Terry - I’m sure several are having dinner. We’re still finishing up school. “Oliver Twist” on DVD is playing (I watched last night) and a science experiment has to sit an hour before we can look at the results.
Smiley Rmom about 15 years ago
yyyguy - Prairie grass is pretty in a field. But we don’t dare let it grow until it reaches full height, because the rodents, snakes, & other critters will hide in it, and I don’t like them that close to the house. We mow it every 2-3 weeks, depending on my husband’s schedule, and if the tractor is working.
COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
That’s a long day Rmom!
Smiley Rmom about 15 years ago

Josh I wouldn’t insult people you don’t know! Not a classy thing to do!
cleokaya about 15 years ago
RRAmom - Just this year we decided to incorporate some edibles in with our perennials and they look great. Instead of planting many annuals we are growing 5 kinds of tomatoes, kale, chard, beans, peas, carrots, squash, lettuce, peppers, eggplant and the fruits we always do, like raspberries, ever - bearing strawberries, blueberries, rhubarb, plums and apples, plus herbs, etc.
Smiley Rmom about 15 years ago

Rmom, I knew me & geometry weren’t going to get along when my first assignment was to write a formal proof that proved 1 + 1 = 3!!! I was a serious science student and that was garbage to me! But I needed math due to heavy emphasis on physics & chemistry so I had to take it to move on.

Hi RRAmom! I love gardening, but not in gravel. I like gardens that thrive in sun and shade, so I can be in sun or shade as I wish.
Rock gardens are cool to look at too, but only if they are sunny and shady.
Oh, and having a pool near by helps! In fact, I just described my summer job! :-D
I like the rope hammock under the tree, and the patio table and chair too!
Smiley Rmom about 15 years ago
COWBOY7 about 15 years ago

(Well, we settle it without arguing, but that’s only because I can pull rank on him.)

hymenoxis - Nice seeing you again. Goodnight. Good job on the cleanup.
Lonewolf - It is maybe an hour and a half from Corpus Christi and about 20+ miles from McAllen. It is about 19 miles from Progresso, MX (by road, much closer as the crow flies).

Shika - Sleep tight. Are you sure that you don”t wish to stay and provide the female input?
Shikamoo Premium Member about 15 years ago
Exactly what input is that cleo?
carmy about 15 years ago
I heared y’all talking about my home state, TEXAS. Hook ‘em horns!
carmy about 15 years ago
Goodnight Shika! Goodnight hymenoxis! Sorry I missed y’all.
cleokaya about 15 years ago
Shika - Well, we’ve got the booze, we’ve got the car. If we are going to hit the road for Texas we need a female to help tone us down a little.
Carmy - That’s right you were just down the road from me.
cleokaya about 15 years ago
Shika - Or liven us up. LOL
Shikamoo Premium Member about 15 years ago
Good Night Carmy The nice thing about being me, is I can draw out my good nights! LOL

The Duke 1 about 15 years ago
Carmy!!! You don’t wanna know what we Nebraskans did with your “hook ‘em horns” sign! (ThatKs where I went to part of my college years!). And don’t even get me started on Oklahomans!
Shikamoo Premium Member about 15 years ago

Tone you down, and then liven you up, and then, tone you down again…..

carmy about 15 years ago
JFri, you’re a Cornhusker?
Terry, I am doing okay. I am from Brownsville, Texas. It’s on the southernmost tip of Texas, by Mexico.
Hey Cleo! It’s really HOT down in the Valley. No rain, there’s a severe drought there.
carmy about 15 years ago
(for **JFri!)
cleokaya about 15 years ago
Carmy - Yes, I only wanted to be there from November through March.
carmy about 15 years ago
JFri, haven’t you heard that Oklahoma is just Texas’ backyard?
COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
It’s a nice shotgun ride, too!! Power everything!!
cleokaya about 15 years ago
JFri - I’ll sit in the back with the liquor.
The Duke 1 about 15 years ago
Carmy, YUP! Didn’t know that, did you? Does that mean you won’t talk to me any more?
Shikamoo Premium Member about 15 years ago
JFri

COWBOY7 about 15 years ago

COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
Good Night JFri!
carmy about 15 years ago
*JFri, of course I will talk to you. My mom had some really good friends from Nebraska. They used to visit us in Texas during the winter. They were “Winter Texans.”
cleokaya about 15 years ago
Lonewolf - Stretch limo, yeah with a full bar and hot tub.
I am out of here for a while to join my sweetie for part of a movie. Save room for me.
carmy about 15 years ago
Where are you all roadtripping to?
The Duke 1 about 15 years ago
cleo, why do you think I want shotgun? LOTS of leg room & I can drink to my heart’s content!
carmy about 15 years ago
Do you all need a driver? I got a pretty good lead foot.
Zoooommmmmm….COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
In Oklahoma, they had to pass a law. Auto manufacturers could no longer put the bright lights switch on the turn signal lever. They kept getting their foot caught in the steering wheel!! lol
COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
The younger crowd might not understand that one!!
carmy about 15 years ago
That’s a good one, Terry!
The Duke 1 about 15 years ago
Night, Terry!
carmy about 15 years ago
Hey, I even remember when the cars had vents in the front, in the foot area.
cleokaya about 15 years ago
If the car’s old enough, I’ll ride in the rumble seat and check out the stars.
COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
Carmy–Yes ma’am they did!
The Duke 1 about 15 years ago
Carmy, we’re going to Texas to deliver Terry’s moonshine! SURE you can drive!!
cleokaya about 15 years ago
JFri - Quit hogging the bottle man.
cleokaya about 15 years ago
I sure as heck don’t want too drive.
carmy about 15 years ago
I’ll drive, but I better not get any complaints. I’ll be pulling over and some folks will be a walking.
cleokaya about 15 years ago
I am outta here.
The Duke 1 about 15 years ago

COWBOY7 about 15 years ago

The Duke 1 about 15 years ago

COWBOY7 about 15 years ago

COWBOY7 about 15 years ago

The Duke 1 about 15 years ago

COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
Hey, I wasn’t going there, my man!!
The Duke 1 about 15 years ago
You been sampling that moonshine, Terry?
COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
JFri–You know it. I’ve got to make sure it’s good enough!! I wouldn’t want anyone disappointed.
COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
Did we lose our driver?
carmy about 15 years ago
I’m here, let’s go!!
carmy about 15 years ago
If anyone has to “go” before we go, “go” now or forever hold it.
carmy about 15 years ago
Sorry, RL calling. BRB, I’ll check the tires while I’m at it.
COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
I’ll be out till the turnover I hope! Sorry guys-importante though!
The Duke 1 about 15 years ago
Carmy, I can “hold it” way longer than you! I got the high capacity (6 gallon) bladder!!
carmy about 15 years ago
Ookay, JFri. I’ll just take your word for it.
carmy about 15 years ago
JFri, I’ll pick you up first since Terry is busy. Be there in 2 minutes. I’ll slow down so you can hop in. Should we do drive by Cleo’s?
The Duke 1 about 15 years ago
Yeah, we’ll kidnap his a$$! Hoping in!
The Duke 1 about 15 years ago
Make that hopping in!
carmy about 15 years ago
Okay, JFri, I’ll slow down at Cleo’s house, you grab him and we can head over to Terry’s.
cleokaya about 15 years ago
I am ready.
margueritem about 15 years ago
Anybody hear from Dry?
carmy about 15 years ago
JFri, please make sure that Cleo has some clothes on!
cleokaya about 15 years ago
I brought some cognac to have around the fire later.
carmy about 15 years ago
Hi Marg, I heard from Dry earlier. She is doing okay.
cleokaya about 15 years ago
Marg - Dry came and had some stiff drinks.
margueritem about 15 years ago
Carmy, that’s good to know.
margueritem about 15 years ago
Cleo, just what she needed.
cleokaya about 15 years ago
Marg - Hopefully she will sleep alright tonight.
yyyguy about 15 years ago
hi y’all. just got caught up to you yappy nuts after a long night at work. glad to see Dry is all right (more or less) and very sorry to hear about her Dad.
yyyguy about 15 years ago
for those who remember my posting from the weekend, my Dad is the same age as hers (i think she said his age earlier). we just wrapped up selling his house a couple of weeks ago though he’s been living in his apartment since mid-May. she’s so right about how hard it is to watch them grow old. Mom passed away a bit over a year ago, and it’s a bit distressing to see how frail he seems to have become since then. though it wasn’t a big house, it was just too big for him to keep up any longer, and it’s for the best. missing Mom is bad enough, to think that he might be gone soon is too hard for me right now. it makes me very sympathetic to what Dry must be going through.
yyyguy about 15 years ago
i’m not much on organized religion, but i’m definitely saying a prayer or several on her behalf.
The Duke 1 about 15 years ago
yyy, I believe your dad is 4 years younger than hers. But it IS tough to watch. I had to watch my mom slowly lose her mind over 14 years (Alzheimer’s). It was still hard when she diéd 3 years ago.
