It’s funny I just finished putting our Virginia pictures in albums today. Still doing it the old fashioned way. I am not happy with my digital and i am not sure whether to spend big bucks on a digital slr with removable lenses. I no longer do photography for a living, but I like getting good results when I take photos.

corpskaya i was doing that, briefly, when i first joined this scary Tribe, but stopped pretty quickly. besides, for most of them you just don’t see enough detail for it to be worth while. i still use a film slr, but i have the store i take it to put it on a disc for me as well as making my prints. i’ve been starting to think about getting a digital slr, to go along with the digital “snapshot” camera i got from my employer as a tenth anniversary gift.

Hi ygor cheers me up a little bit! If you have been following any of my past posts, I have been a Packer fan since I was 5, back in the days of Bart Starrr and company! Got REALLY REALLY MAD AT PACKER MANAGEMENT, ANOTHER SET OF DUMB A@@ES! So I guess, I’m one of those people they talk about these days in the sports pages, Brett fan first and foremost!

Dry - I can’t cry for you I’m afraid, not when my Seahawks are absolutely hopeless. The only good news is so is the rest of their division.

i used to cheer for the Seahawks, back when i followed NFL regularly. back then, they would use a bunch of gadget plays when they got on to Monday Night Football, and it was, at least, interesting (compared to the 3 runs and a kick style of play the league was in at the time). that was back in the days of Jim Zorn and Steve Largent, though. now, i kind of follow the Saints a bit, and still look in on the Vikings from time to time, since they were the other team i followed back when.

Steve Largent was a class act. I still remember the time that he witnessed a member of the opposing team rough up one of the Seahawks in a very nasty way. On the very next play, Steve ran out on a pass play and at full speed hit the guy who had delivered the cheapshot, totally flattening him and he did it in a way where he couldn’t be called for a penalty. I loved it.

yea the Saints are looking pretty good this year, so are the Ravens, but I haven’t seen any other scores today, yet. The Bears got creamed though! My dad was a big Bears fan, since WAAYYY back! After all, he was 96 when he passed. So he remembered the days when sports weren’t played for the big bucks like they are today. And baseball, he saw Babe Ruth, Joltin’ Joe DiMaggio and Lou Gehrig play in person. He also saw the Bears and Eagles play in Philly.

Howdy Terry. So, it sounds like nobody is particularly happy with how their teams did today. Gosh, it is times like this where I miss having a TV. I think that I mentioned, while we changed around three rooms we actually hauled the one TV we had for watching videos out of the house. i think that this is the first time since I was about 7 that I can say that I do not have a TV in the house.

will do werewolf but i kind of wanted to put these somewhere Dry could see them first, since she was the one asking about them and making suggestions for things to see while i was there.

You know I have a Facebook account and have never really done anything with it. What has been odd, is about once a month I have some really beautiful young lady, not the same one, but new ones who are acknowledging me as a friend. I never respond. Have any of you had this experience? I keep thinking that there must be something fishy going on. Either that or in the night I am some swinging sleep walker.

Not necessarily something fishy. Could be someone who is a friend of another friend usually looking to pad their “friend” numbers. If I don’t recognize them and the friend of mine doesn’t know them personally, I don’t accept the request.

My kids do facebook, but I don’t. And all this stuff with adding friends, etc. on there. Weird! My kids are cautious and only contact people they truly know like high school and college friends.And unbeknoswst to them, I have a way to check, LOL!

It has been one dreary day here today. Everything is in a constant state of gray with an annoying dribbly rain. Yuck.

Get used to it Cleo! Our summer is over, sigh! I took the grabage out tonight for trash pick up and noticed that at 6:30 it was getting dark! I HATE IT! After next week, it will be dark at 5:30. And then there is about 6 weeks of leaving work at 4:30 and its already dark!

Dry - I know. I guess that I am just mourning the loss of our warm winters in the southern tropical zone of Texas.

The winters here in Chicago just make me appreciate the summers even more! I’m used to it!!

yea you’d think I’d be used to it, but I’m not. I always mourn the loss of summer, guess I always have! I’m a summer person, although I do enjoy the fall colors and the smell of the leaves, and the first big snowfall, but winter gets old REAL QUICK!

Ygor, I really like Picassa - and you can have your pics either private or shared with the world. I use it to keep a backup of my pics although they aren’t in the same resolution, at least they won’t be lost forever. Right now I’m scanning millions of slides that we took over the years. Decided on a resolution of 4800 - it gives us very good focus although it is much too much for hdtv, things may change.

I learned this am that my sister went to visit my Dad and couldn’t find him at home. Learned from a neighbour that an ambulance and the police were at his house near midnight. It seems he had walked to the drug store to pick up his meds and walked into a door, fractured his face. Then walked home bleeding badly. The ambulance attendants and police got him out of bed. They now say he’s also had another heart attack (last one was 30 years ago.) We don’t know who called 911, nor why so late after he got home and no-one contacted anyone (all our contact info is in his wallet. Today he is very cognisant and he wants all methods of resuscitation - the docs talked to him about it! scary and I wish I were there but he has said NOT to come!

Serena I’ve never been a big fan of Halloween except when I was a kid, and when my kids were kids! Used to take them around with a group of their freinds and the parents and we had fun! Oh and of course Charlie Browns Halloween video and the class parties in grade school! Now, it’s just another day! Except for the fun we’re having here!

ygor - If you decide to get a digital camera, at least get one with decent resolution & zoom. I had to take my geek husband shopping with me (he used to use the big honking 35mm cameras, so he understands cameras, too) so that he could tell me what numbers to look for. I am so happy with mine, other than not having a lensviewer to look through, only an LCD screen which is fine except for sunny, outdoor days. I wanted one small enough & light enough that I wouldn’t get tired of carrying it around, and could put it in a pocket. But a zoom better than our previous camera. Mine is a few years old, so I have no idea what is available now. I’ve used mine to take my sons’ senior pictures, since we have a very scenic location. (Besides tons of other pictures!) What I like is that when a photo gets blown up to an 8 x 10, everything is still nice and crisp loolking. I don’t make many prints, but when I do, it is easy to take a memory stick or card into Wal-Mart, and use one of the machines to select the prints I want. Rotate, crop & zoom, too. I had the prints in my hand in less than 10 minutes from start to finish. Very nice quality. Also, with a digital, you can easily make backups of the originals, and keep them in a separate location to protect them from fire, flood, etc.

Serena - I don’t celebrate Halloween anymore either. But I couldn’t pass up the virtual costume party. I’ve always enjoyed costume parties! We did “fall parties” with the boys when they were children, so they didn’t miss out on the fun, but avoided anything glorifying death or witchcraft. I figured that my boys just hadn’t thought about calling me “momzilla” yet when I order them to do some work.

Yea CarMummmy , I was surprised! After today’s showing, I told my son, “well I just moved down a few pegs!!”

Dry, that opponent is my brother! I always vote for him!
