Good Morning Luv, TRIBE and everyone!
Gonna be in the mid to high 80s, but with a 73 degree dew point, I’m sucking on AC until the front with thunderboomers goes through.
Toon comment:
They switched sides at the table again or am I seeing things like Lewreader at BB???
LADYWOLF How do you get up before the chickens and prepare such an attractive menu? I’m still recovering from being poisoned the other night with chocolate cake/ice cream/lemonade. I will tempt fate however and order a cup of, what do you call it? DOC’S WORLD FAMOUS NUCLEAR COFFEE? That is approved by the FDA, right?
Morning TRIBEAfter 12 days of heat wave and 2 nice days, they are going to fix my AC today. But But But They said they were coming.
I know the arc is being drawn out for comic effect, but Kingston, get over it already!
Now if you want to see cool… Grog is cool. :)
Hm…breakfast? Hickory smoked fish sounds wonderful, especially if it’s salmon. A bagel with cream cheese, OJ and CocoMocha will round that off just fine.
Good morning all. I’ve been checking university out and found out, which I already new, I’m no wolflady.
I plan on checking out Jr. college’s, here is problem not sure if I will get to Medical Encoding program since some will want younger and lots of years on experience.
Rmom when you read this I saw your answer. I realize you don’t want to give out to much that is why I don’t write type of aircraft my hubby worked at. But I also realize there are a lot of people who never heard of gocomics, they now of facebook, twitter, myspace, etc. If and when we ever get to go anywhere here to MO a different fun place I’m not sure the HWY we take goes that way. I believe I know where your talking about but I will not say. Been to that town and what I remember from the past fairly industrious.
How is everyone? Lewreader I hope you are feeling better. Virious you had just has to wear out. We had gone to one resturant some time ago, and some food was not cooked quite right and it made me sick. Some fast food place also made me sick.
Did you know that moonshine is flammable? I was thinking that if we took a baseball sized, very dense cotton ball and soaked it in moonshine and Nuclear Coffee………….
Well, of course it would be presumptious. But think of the embarassment potential. Okay, um you should tell them that you love them and kiss the bride.
I am having a problem accessing the comments when the comic first appears at night. (11:10 p.m. MDT). I can access the comic, and it shows that there are “x” number of comments, and nothing else until the first 50 slots are filled sometime the next day.
Does anyone have a solution??
I love this group…..you’re just as wacky as can be. Glad to drop in once in a while.
I think Rmom has similar problems sometimes, but I’m not sure what the problem could be, but maybe she has resolved it since I haven’t heard hear complain of it of late.
I know that this can happen at turnover when you refresh, but that can be resolved by going back to the previous day - and back again to the current day. But that would be at turnover. Not sure what the problem could be if this is happening to you now.
♠Lonewolf♠ - I’m doing fine. Went to the store around noon and it was hot outside! I’m inside now with the A/C. (Right now it’s only 91° with a heat index of 97°)
Good afternoon, tribe!MontanaLady - My guess is that you are on page 2 (or more) of the comments. Just go to the bottom where the page #s are at, and click on the “1”.
Grog - I think you’re talking about when my filter won’t allow me to see a page of comments. If there are at least 2 pages of comments, one which isn’t blocked, I can look at the unblocked page and get the current number of comments for the whole day.
Ladywolf - I noticed on the weather channel it was nice in your area. Since I’m inside now I don’t notice the heat! Sunday it’s supposed to get to 103°.
It’s just normal for here. I try to do most of my outside work early and am able to spend most of the hot weather inside. This makes me better off than a lot of people around here.
I used to have a sales route in westeren Kansas and had a car without A/C. The company required you to wear a suit and tie! (LOL). My boss though knew that the farmers wouldn’t trust you that way so I was able to wear better clothes, but it still got hot enough when the temp. was in the 100°’s.
Hi, Sojo!
I had to go to the tag office this morning. At least the truck had a/c and I got home before it was too hot. 103 for Sunday? Yikes! I hadn’t looked that far in the forecast. My hubby needs to do some grilling. I may see if he wants to do that Saturday a.m. before the shade leaves the deck.
I don’t envy you driving that sales route! I’ve been across western KS in 100+ weather and no a/c. Not something I want to repeat! At least I was able to wear shorts, etc. I can’t imagine wearing “professional” clothes!
Rmom - I was on the road 4 days a week and 1 day in town. Hot summers and cold winters! I drove 1,000 miles a week and had to keep appointments no matter what the weather! Sunday looks like the hottest day for a while. As August is soon to be here it might not be too hot of a summer after all. Hope you and your hubby don’t get to hot! LOL
Guess I will watch some tv then get ready to go walk.
Ladywolf are you planning to college by internet seems that’s the going rage now. This way no one call tell how old one is and work at own pace. Is someone reads fast and comprehends could finish sooner. Me I don’t read fast.
Sojo - My hubby used to (before I met him) work for a bread company. His truck’s defroster & heater didn’t work - he had to use candles to defrost his windshield. You’re right about hot summers & cold winters - we’ve got both here, but I think western KS weather is worse.
Hi, Kab! - My son did a “blended” class. For someone self-motivated it would have worked better. He did manage to get a “C” (Algebra) with his dad tutoring him. BCC charges extra $ to do an on-line class, but if you save it in gas, that might not be a problem. I haven’t taken a class that way, so don’t know all the pros & cons.
Sojo - I guess that didn’t happen to him, or at least he’s never mentioned it. But a bread truck probably had/has more distance between the dash & windshield than many vehicles.
Me going near a computer is like Jethro Bodine (Bev Hillbillies) practicing brain surgery for the first time. I plugged the wires in the new router without the directions. Went to the new Blu-Ray and that was a piece of cake.Lay down and took a nap.
The cats must have played with the wires. I broke down and fished the directions out of the trash. Well, I got the computer working again. Do I swallow my pride and call a geek tomorrow, or do I start at 4 AM to put in an 18 hour day doing what a kid could in 20 minutes. Do I blame it on an afternoon deficiency of DOC’S NUC COFFEE? I was whistling for it between muttered curses.
Anyone want to buy a Blu-Ray with only one kick mark?
Lew - If you can afford a geek, that might be the best route. Especially if that keeps you from putting a hole in the wall, overeating, domestic abuse, firing a gun inside city limits, etc.
Being married to one, and giving birth to another, I delegate all the geek work I don’t want to tackle myself.
For those, I hope Jr. college one has communication to professors.
Last year where my sister and hubby lived when windows frooze because of ice some idiots poured hot water down on the lock by windows to see if could unlock. I would have tried that but next to the lock not by the window. Found a door could open by yanking then was able to start car turn heat full blast then open doors. No broken window.
Well time to go sweet it outside and burn some tiny bitty fat. Not. I feel bad for those with computer problems real pain.
Montana Lady, I am not sure what your problem with seeing the comments is but sometimes if I can’t get into a page and try using another approach (eg. the A-Z list) the page will show up correctly.
Well, a small cannon would work too. Yes! That might be better. We can shoot the moonshine and nuclear coffee soaked cotton balls through the fire………….
Is that we we are calling the moonshine and nuclear coffee mixture? I thought it would catch on fire when it was shot out. I am sure it won’t actually explode.
Grog, how many normal sized ones? Do you have any gauze tape? We could make our own large cotton balls, they don’t have to be perfect. And a layer of gauze on the outside would help it keep it’s shape longer.
Well if you guys hadn’t had the fireworks destroyed, we could have used them. We need more cotton products You guys don’t mind if we use some of your shirts and towels do you? We can tie them in knots, then wrap string around them to keep them roughly ball shaped and tightly packed.
LuvH8 - Hopefully it would go over it making it a spectacular view for them! (Of course, doing it would be the only way to know for sure what would happen.)
Different chemicals burn with different colors. I don’t remember which ones are what color. Just use a lot of different chemicals and you should get a lot of different colors. (When I did something like that as a kid with my chemical set my parents didn’t think to much of it though. Come to think of it, I don’t remember seeing it after that.)
Thanks for the advice on getting to see the “comments” at the turnover. I’ll try the “refresh”, or the “going back to yesterday” approaches. Scrolling down to the bottom doesn’t help, as it doesn’t give page numbers or anything. I usually have to wait until there are at least 50 comments, and then the second page will appear. But, that’s the next morning.
So, if y’all hear from me late tonight, you’ll know it worked. If I don’t appear until tomorrow a.m., then I guess I’ll have to write to GoComics.
Hi, MontanaLady! I hope you can figure out the problem. Do you have dial-up or high speed? Lower connection rates sometimes prevent a page from completely loading.
Luv - I figured if Sojo was helping, he wouldn’t point it at himself, now would he? Of course, as long as it landed in western KS, it couldn’t do too much harm there.
What’s all this booming sounds. OMG, look at that light show, it is work being woke up to see such a sight. That was some round you had there , LuvH8, I heard and saw it all the way in the armpit of the universe. Be wary the next few hours, the Feds might come for you.

Lewreader, there is no shame in calling a geek. I’d do it if I had to. I’m glad I don’t move annually with all the toys I have to reconnect & wire.

Greetings Sojo, Grog, Rmom & Lonewolf
Montana Lady, I am not sure what your problem with seeing the comments is but sometimes if I can’t get into a page and try using another approach (eg. the A-Z list) the page will show up correctly.

So does anyone know where to get baseball sized, dense cotton balls?
Smiley Rmom over 14 years ago
GROG Premium Member over 14 years ago
What fer, LuvH8?
COWBOY7 over 14 years ago
Hello, LuvH8, Rmom, Grog, Sojo & Kab!
Ooops! Premium Member over 14 years ago
I’m going to soak some in moonshine and nuclear coffee.
Ooops! Premium Member over 14 years ago
Does anyone happen to have a large slingshot laying around?
George Arnold over 14 years ago
uuummm LuvH8, would that be to soak up some flammable liqu…. never mind
I guess this comment is a little late!
George Arnold over 14 years ago
Hi ♠Lonewolf♠
GROG Premium Member over 14 years ago
Why do I smell trouble?
George Arnold over 14 years ago
I know nothing about any slingshots!
COWBOY7 over 14 years ago
(Maybe I’ll sneak back in when things are calmed down)
Ooops! Premium Member over 14 years ago
Well, a small cannon would work too. Yes! That might be better. We can shoot the moonshine and nuclear coffee soaked cotton balls through the fire………….
George Arnold over 14 years ago
♠Lonewolf♠ - You make a good alibi for some of use!
Ooops! Premium Member over 14 years ago
Everything is perfectly calm. So about the baseball sized cotton balls?
Ooops! Premium Member over 14 years ago
Oh wait! We need bowling ball sized cotton balls now. I’m sure we can borrow a cannon from a museum or something.
George Arnold over 14 years ago
LuvH8 - Just out of curiosity, how does your mind work? :-)
Obviously good!
Ooops! Premium Member over 14 years ago
Oh! Thanks, I haven’t taken my pills yet. Be back in a bit.
GROG Premium Member over 14 years ago
I don’t have any, LuvH8….just normal-sized.
George Arnold over 14 years ago
LuvH8 - If the cotton balls are soaked in agent z, wouldn’t they be ignited and expload in the cannon when the cannon is fired?
Ooops! Premium Member over 14 years ago
Is that we we are calling the moonshine and nuclear coffee mixture? I thought it would catch on fire when it was shot out. I am sure it won’t actually explode.
George Arnold over 14 years ago
Oh well, forget the details, just see what happens. Isn’t that what Calvin would do?
Ooops! Premium Member over 14 years ago
Grog, how many normal sized ones? Do you have any gauze tape? We could make our own large cotton balls, they don’t have to be perfect. And a layer of gauze on the outside would help it keep it’s shape longer.
Ooops! Premium Member over 14 years ago
Where did Rmom & Lonewolf go? Don’t they want to contribute to the cause?
Having balls of flame flying through the sky will be such a pretty way to commemorate Bmonk’s Dad’s wedding.
George Arnold over 14 years ago
Hey, just fill it with normal sized cotton balls and not tape them together. They would go everywhere like a multibomb warhead!
GROG Premium Member over 14 years ago
No enough, and not terribly dense either.
Ooops! Premium Member over 14 years ago
Well if you guys hadn’t had the fireworks destroyed, we could have used them. We need more cotton products You guys don’t mind if we use some of your shirts and towels do you? We can tie them in knots, then wrap string around them to keep them roughly ball shaped and tightly packed.
George Arnold over 14 years ago
Grog - If you still have some of the DTWFNC soaked fireworks, putting them into the cannon also would be one way of getting rid of them!
Comment too late again. I need to type faster!
Ooops! Premium Member over 14 years ago
Sojo, do you think those would make it all the way to North Dakota?
George Arnold over 14 years ago
LuvH8 - If you used C4 instead of gun powder in the cannon I’m sure it would! If the cannon doesn’t explode,
Ooops! Premium Member over 14 years ago
That would be really pretty! You don’t think we will burn down Bmonk’s church do you? They did just celebrate their 100 years of consecration.
GROG Premium Member over 14 years ago
I don’t have them. I can’t recall for sure but I think Doctor Toon hid the fireworks.
George Arnold over 14 years ago
LuvH8 - Hopefully it would go over it making it a spectacular view for them! (Of course, doing it would be the only way to know for sure what would happen.)
Ooops! Premium Member over 14 years ago
Any ideas on how we can make them different colored?
Smiley Rmom over 14 years ago
I think I’ll just be an observer…from a distance! That way if the authorities need a witness, I’ll still be able to testify.
George Arnold over 14 years ago
Different chemicals burn with different colors. I don’t remember which ones are what color. Just use a lot of different chemicals and you should get a lot of different colors. (When I did something like that as a kid with my chemical set my parents didn’t think to much of it though. Come to think of it, I don’t remember seeing it after that.)
Ooops! Premium Member over 14 years ago
You would testify??????
MontanaLady over 14 years ago
Hey guys,
Thanks for the advice on getting to see the “comments” at the turnover.
Cheers!
George Arnold over 14 years ago
If Rmom was from a distance I don’t think it would be reliable.
George Arnold over 14 years ago
Hi MontanaLady!
Smiley Rmom over 14 years ago
Do I need to use a zoom lens? Web cam?
Smiley Rmom over 14 years ago
Hi, MontanaLady! I hope you can figure out the problem. Do you have dial-up or high speed? Lower connection rates sometimes prevent a page from completely loading.
GROG Premium Member over 14 years ago
Perhaps not, but I’ll go along with Rmom & keep my distance.
GROG Premium Member over 14 years ago
I wouldn’t want to be anywhere near the fireworks!
George Arnold over 14 years ago
Rmom - Defense or prosecution?
Smiley Rmom over 14 years ago
Sojo - I just tell the facts, and let the chips fall where they may.
Smiley Rmom over 14 years ago
Grog - You’ve got a spare bedroom - right? Just in case I need to get a little more distance from their experiment?
George Arnold over 14 years ago
Rmom - Fair enough. (p.s. Use a wide angle lens.) :-)
GROG Premium Member over 14 years ago
Somehow Rmom, I don’t think we can get far enough away.
George Arnold over 14 years ago
I need to turn in soon. Maybe LuvH8 can actually do it?
Smiley Rmom over 14 years ago
Let’s see, there is an old missle silo within a few miles of my place…
GROG Premium Member over 14 years ago
I don’t have any doubts, Sojourner.
Ooops! Premium Member over 14 years ago
Rmom, we were depending on you to help aim the cannon. You wouldn’t want us to shoot at Kansas instead of North Dakota would you?
Smiley Rmom over 14 years ago
Luv - I figured if Sojo was helping, he wouldn’t point it at himself, now would he? Of course, as long as it landed in western KS, it couldn’t do too much harm there.
Ooops! Premium Member over 14 years ago
Yes, but you all are planning to go to bed. Well, I’ve finished stuffing the cannon. You know I think I got a buzz off of the agent z.
George Arnold over 14 years ago
I’ll only be here for a short time as it’s past time for me to turn in.
George Arnold over 14 years ago
If you aim it, tell me when and I’ll light it.
Ooops! Premium Member over 14 years ago
Okay, umm………… does anyone know where North Dakota is?
George Arnold over 14 years ago
From?
George Arnold over 14 years ago
Maybe aim north? What could you hurt if it went into Canada?
George Arnold over 14 years ago
East - Northeast?
Ooops! Premium Member over 14 years ago
Hey! Some of our fellow postals are from Canada! From Cannon Beach, Oregon. That’s where the cannon is.
Smiley Rmom over 14 years ago
They’ve got a lot of lakes up there, they might not notice another crater…
GROG Premium Member over 14 years ago
Sojourner there’s more wide open spaces, but there are densely populated areas that can get hit.
George Arnold over 14 years ago
EENE From Oregon would go to North Dakota?
Ooops! Premium Member over 14 years ago
Okay, aim the cannon to the right and slightly up.
George Arnold over 14 years ago
Aim 70°
GROG Premium Member over 14 years ago
From where you are it’s dead ahead, LuvH8, but don’t under/overshoot it.
George Arnold over 14 years ago
Ready to fire?
Smiley Rmom over 14 years ago
Wait! If the cannon is in Oregon, I don’t think we want it pointing “right” at all!
GROG Premium Member over 14 years ago
Stand way back, Rmom.
Smiley Rmom over 14 years ago
Can I stand behind you, Grog?
Ooops! Premium Member over 14 years ago
Grog we want to overshoot, it’s for a light show. And we don’t want to burn down a church. I’m not sure there is forgiveness for that one.
George Arnold over 14 years ago
LuvH8 - Are you ready?
GROG Premium Member over 14 years ago
Sure Rmom
If you over-shoot, LuvH8 you could hit some pretty densely populated areas.

What’s all this booming sounds. OMG, look at that light show, it is work being woke up to see such a sight. That was some round you had there , LuvH8, I heard and saw it all the way in the armpit of the universe. Be wary the next few hours, the Feds might come for you.
