    Request for help:

I’m posting here because this strip seems to have the biggest following.

We’re all sick of Spam. This strip alone seems to get 4/5 a day, The administrators are decent at deleting it when they’re on the clock, but the Spammers seem to know their hours and like to hit when they know they won’t be deleted.

I want to float the idea of “elected moderators” who would have the power to delete Spam and freeze the accounts of obvious Spammers. Those willfully elected should promise to scan the strips for Spammers and take action, or more ideally, be given access to the “flagged” messages with permission to delete only Spam (and not potentially objectionable content at this point).

I’ve seen many, many posts from users stating that reading the comments is no longer enjoyable. I’m sure you all are sick of the Spam as well.

Can anyone suggest a place where I can register this complaint/suggestion? Does anyone have other suggestions on how to battle the cancer?

And for that matter, does anyone have any nominations?

A copy of the days menu cab be made and reposted each time it is deleted. Good morning, tribe! Sojo - Once you find out from gocomics why breakfast keeps getting deleted before lunch time arrives, please let us know what we can do about the situation. Since breaking up breakfast into more than one post didn’t do the trick, I wonder if “potluck” would be the better way to go? Doc - You’re doing better than I am, evidently. I’m forgetting stuff from every decade I lived through. Including the current one. LOL! I think I’ve figured out why time seems to go faster the older one gets - because each unit of time is a smaller percent of one’s life the older they are.

Hello Rmom - I once read that psychologically you compare the length of time with what you have already lived (what you said). That’s why time seems to go faster the older you get. In high school I figured that if you lived to be 73 you have psycholgically lived half your life when your 18. I don’t remember how I calculated that and don’t have any idea if or how accurate that is. Just something to think about.

“How is it?” I asked “Pretty good” he responds, but not as good as your chicken noodle was….I can’t seem to find the chicken in this” !!!! I go into hysterical laughter and bring the chicken from the fridge. I FORGOT TO PUT THE CHICKEN IN THE CHICKEN SOUP…..DUH!

Hi ElDo Disc Golf, Rmom, Grog, RunswB, Sojo

I have been in all the states and even though I detest driving I-70 through Kansas as a rule, there are some areas that are really pretty like the Flint Hills, areas around Elsworth, Manhattan, Wichita and just being able to see so far. My son as a child was amazed at the spaces when he first traveled through the state on southern route.

Hope&joy - I don’t enjoy driving I-70 from Salina, KS to Lamar, CO either, the scenery is boring. Unless there is a storm rolling in, then it is a very fascinating place to be to watch the clouds. I live SE of Wichita, with that cliff as the western edge of our property. The view was what first attracted me, my husband liked it too, but he liked the rolling hills and trees in our neighborhood. We and our neighbors did plant trees, plus some by natural means, so now I have to walk closer to the edge of the cliff to get the best view of the sunsets. My husband & I have a difference of opinion on scenery - to me, trees block the scenery. To him, the trees ARE the scenery. (I’m a native Kansan, grew up SW of Wichita where it is much flatter.)

I-70 in western Kansas can be quite boring. In summer hot and windy. Once on my Goldwing it was so windy I couldn’t even do 50 mph at times. One gust of wind actually flattened the windshild down on to my hands. I couldn’t bend it that far if I had to. Several bikers often stoped to rest under the overpasses.

Rmom As someone once said, “There is no place like home” and I love trees but they do get in the way for distant views…there are so many in our neighborhood, I have to stand in the street to see a sunset. I think I have mentioned this before. Sojo the wind in Eastern Colorado we’ve found to be very threatening too all along 1-70.

Have a good afternoon. I must continue getting ready for this trip.

ElDo - Have you been to El Dorado, KS? If I remember correctly, Herman Hill park in Wichita has a disc golf course. My late mom lived about a block away from there.

ElDo - I do realize that El Dorado is a popular name. What is interesting is the different pronunciations for it. The one in KS is pronounced L-door-ray-dough. It’s been a few years since I’ve been to Hutch, although I’ve got relatives living there.

I think I know that one - LOL! I wasn’t talking about the insult versions, just the everyday pronunciations.

Rmom - Not yet, just trying to keep this one going. Maybe in a few weeks I’ll be able to update it. I think I’ll need to leave it off at night which will mean no turnovers, at least on most weekdays.

Sojo - If you can nurse it along, good for you. At least you live a little closer to the stores to buy another one if necessary.

Rmom - The one I want is at Tiger Direct on the internet and is a good price. It will only take a few days to get it once I order it.

Sojo - We buy a lot of our computer stuff from TigerDirect. We’ve gone to having a spare router on hand that can be used until we get another one. It might be a little slower, but at least we don’t have to go without internet while we wait on the new one. One of my sons just told me today that he wants an extra battery for his laptop for Christmas. It is a Dell laptop. Do you think I’ll have to buy it from Dell, or is there a cheaper place?

Rmom - I think you can get it at most internet computer part sites like TD. However, I don’t know for sure. If you can’t get it there you might have to get it from Dell. The first laptop I bought was a high quility one (at the time). I didn’t know at the time though all parts, including hard drives etc. had to come from them, nothing generic would work with it. I got a second AC adapter for this at TD, It is generic. I checked they reviews first though. This one seemed to be good. The one at Best Buy only lasted one or two months according to the reviews. I’d like to get another AC adapter but made for this computer and it looks like I’ll have to get it from the manufacture. It would be cheaper to do that than what I got but the one I have bought will work with almost any laptop so it will probably work on my next one, that’s one reason I got it. Come to think of it, if you google laptop batteries I think there is an online store that carries original batteries. Then all you would have to worry about is the store!

Sojo - I just got a link from him for it at TD, and I think my son needs a reality check. It is $130, and we don’t spend that type of money on gifts. I just emailed my hubby and told him he needs to have a father-son talk with this son.

Quaby - Earlier this afternoon, the let’s-not-mention-them-or-it-might-encourage-them showed up at a lot of strips, but the mods were pretty quick in getting them removed. I was glad, as they were making my filter block the whole page of comments wherever they showed up.

About forgetting nouns first–we aren’t the only beings who use “thingy” as a pronoun: see here (the first panel–the “buzzy scientific thingy”).

I’m going to be on the scarce side for a few days. There is a big (10-day) festival going on where my hubby is at, and he wants me to experience it. I can’t say I’m excited about it, because his main interest is going from food vendor to food vendor. However, I could tell it is important to him that I come, so I’m going. I might pop in, but if I don’t show up until Monday, you’ll know why.

ElDo - Thanks! I figure I drag my husband occasionally to things he’s not real interested in doing, so I guess it has to be my turn once in a while. Do you think the basketball game is going to last forever?

Time for me to wrap things up for tonight. Good night, all!

Not sure if I will ever see the day of being further north and away from Hwy and heavy traffic noise. The street is not a thorough fare but drivers treat it that way. When I head out for work west street is west of us and not far from I235 I avoid this and head straight north to next 4 lane road then head towards west st. then head south. I wonder if flagging spam really helps who ever is gaining more momentum. And I for one do not flag ones who post morning breakfast menu.
