There are many seeds that do not germinate until “toasted” by a fire. Fires are a natural cycle, but very destructive to human property. Controlled burns often get out of control. There is no easy solution.
In Mark Twain’s “Roughing It”, he describes an ill-fate land-claiming expedition to Lake Tahoe. It ended when their coffeepot overturned and spilled the campfire onto dry brush. They only had time to leap into their boat and watched the forest fire burn over the horizon. (Great book.)
