Your favorite cartoonists had an exciting weekend in sunny San Diego!

August 22 marked the 78th annual National Cartoonists Society (NCS) Reuben Awards. This prestigious award show shines a spotlight on the year's outstanding achievements in cartooning. There are several award categories, the highest honor being Outstanding Cartoonist of the Year, chosen via a secret ballot of NCS members.

GoComics was well-represented at this year’s award show—13 of our talented creators were award finalists. Four of these creators were even nominated for Outstanding Cartoonist of the Year: Will Henry (“Wallace the Brave”), Dana Simpson (“Phoebe and Her Unicorn”), Mark Tatulli (“Lio”), and Darrin Bell (“Rudy Park”).

Bill Hinds of “Tank McNamara" was honored with the Gold T-Square award for his 50 years as a professional cartoonist. Tauhid Bondia took home the Best Newspaper Comic Strip award for “Crabgrass”, while Sarah Anderson won Best Online Comics: Short Form for “Sarah’s Scribbles”. Wayno of “Waynovision” won best Newspaper Panel.
