I’m bored so I’m posting one of my old poems, and, remember, nobody HAS to read the dang thing!Cats Know Which Side Their Mice Are Buttered
Truer words were never utteredCats know which side their mice are butteredThey use us humans in their plans(We’re here to open up their cans)In other ways they tend to doubt usKnowing they can do without us
Dogs are opposite: it’s trueYou MIGHT find some that bark at youDogs who bite and yap and growlAnd act in other ways most foulDogs with issues, quirks, and bentsWho shred your limbs and ligaments
A Hamlet dog will bite and scratchGreat Dane as big as bandersnatchA Iago dog can be a smilerTurn from poodle to rottweilerAnd body parts they often severThe dreaded Labrador “retrever”
But if a dog is friendly firstHe’s friendly last, e’en at your worstIf you are late with bits and kibblesHe’ll eat the neighbor’s cats (or tribbles!)And then off to his well-earned restPeople with dogs are truly blessed
