Dan had a very stiff, hesitating, uneasy delivery, like he was a bit uncomfortable in that chair. Now “Uncle” Walter Cronkite was a master – perfectly at ease and emoting complete trust. When Walter came out against the Vietnam war at the end of the CBS Evening News in Feb of 1968 President Lyndon Johnson said “If I’ve lost Walter Cronkite, I’ve lost the American people”
