I work near Valley Forge national Park. a few years ago the deer population was out of control since there was no natural predator in the area and they were over foraging. in october when they should have good layers of fat on for the winter you’d be able to count the ribs. There was a culling to save the population from slow starvation but some of the protesters were just nuts. The worst was a group that wanted to introduce coyote’s to the park to hunt the deer. when it was pointed out they might also attack children in the park the nut jobs expressed no concern over this but made comments about decreasing the surplus population.
“Hey look, ya flushed one, Portnoy! Lookit him waddle! Oh, he’s down! Skinned his knee, there. He’s up again! No, he’s down again. That’s gonna be a nasty bump…”
Wiley said it a long time ago, the best control starts with arming bears.
The reason deer and other populations are overcrowding park units and reserves, is the fact their habitat has been wiped out everywhere else by overpopulation of cars and malls, not just “people.

Two game wardens, seven hunters, and a pure-bred Guernsey cow. (And if you know that reference, I like you already.)
