The strip above looks to originally say 5-21-1986 so that would be shortly after Marcos fled to Hawaii with his family and about $10 billion stolen from the Central Bank of the Philippines so they probably were living high on the hog until Ferdinand punched his ticket a few years later. Have to admit that I enjoy when Breathed occasionally mixed a bit of reality in with his strip.
