It’s unfortunate that dogs age so much faster than humans. I remember when “For Better or For Worse” dealt with the death of Farley. Lynn Johnston said she got so much angry mail about it, but she was just dealing with reality.
The only other pet in comics that I know of who vanished was Rowdy in “One Big Happy.” But he was simply gone for a while, and then they got Willy.
