I think sunflowers are bisexual (organs from both). It’s polite to ask how your dinner identifies before decapitating and devouring it.

I don’t know botany at all, but in fruits the female produces flowers and fruit. I have no idea if flowers have gender.

When in doubt, use the most reasonably inclusive terminology; “I met this wonderful sunflower, and they have been chosen to be my dinner guest.”

It’s a plant flower. Sunflowers, like most plants, are bisexual with male and female parts on the same flower. Some plants are dioecious with either male or female flowers on individuals. Some plants are monoecious with male and female flowers on the same plant. Let’s not forget the plants that reproduce asexually. The world is a continuum.
