Never could figure the Doobie Brothers episode. “What’s Happening!!” was a sitcom with a Black cast and set in a Black neighborhood, and here was a well-established nationally known musical act with a primarily white audience playing a gig at a high school, a primarily black high school at that. Whose idea was that?
