Huey: Hello, FBI? It's me, Huey. Just checkin' in to see how the war's going. Phone: Well, I think it's clear we're making good progress against terrorists and those who harbor them. Huey: Oh no, I'm sorry. I meant the war on drugs. You remember the war on drugs, don't you? Phone: Huh? Huey: I mean the government has spent a fortune, thrown countless people in jail, invaded a country - I figure we're gonna win that one any day now, right? Phone: Well, I, um... we're making progress, I guess... Huey: So how much longer we talkin' here... like a month? A few months? Just give me a ballpark figure. Phone: Hello? Hello? Caesar: You were right, Huey... This is much more fun than playing outside. Huey: Isn't it? Now let's call the CIA!
How about we insist Congress do its job (as spelled out in the Constitution) and do the declaring of wars. And no wars on white (or other) powders, or on economic conditions (poverty), or on political tactics like terrorism. Those are, by definition, unwinnable. They drain the treasury and cause our own people grief, and only benefit those supplying the ‘warriors’.
