Huey: I tell you what the problem is. Most people don't have the time or the energy to follow politics, and the government takes advantage of that. This country needs to keep a closer eye on Washington! We need to start holding our elected officials responsibile for this mess! Caesar: Wow...so who is your congressman, Huey? Evidently Huey had average American civic literacy, but at least he recognized the problem. In one academic study back in the 1990s more than half of those surveyed could not even name the PARTY their member of Congress belonged to, which as one scholar commented was worse results than would be obtained by flipping a coin.
