Must be an American comic. The U.S. is the only place in the world where doctors go to get rich. They leave places like Europe and Canada, places with universal health care, like rats from a sinking ship. At least the greedy ones do.
There are really two needs: basic and preventative care that could be provided by a nurse practitioner, and advanced care like Dr House provides that is expensive and needs to be to attract the talent.

Universal health care in america will never happen, the malpractice lawyers wont let it.
