Yes, Lady Bri, there is too much cancer around and I guess I am the next one in line. I was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer on Dec 20th after suffering with pancreatitis since April. Robotic surgery is scheduled for Feb 4th to remove part of my pancreas. I guess everyone wants to play with the robot so it took a little longer to get a playdate than the surgeon expected. Also he is pretty sure he will be able to remove all of it, so barring any surprises I won’t have to do radiation or chemo. I will be in hospital for 4-7 days and looking at a rather long recovery time they tell me. They also tell me that copious amounts of pain meds are supposed to be involved so not sure when I will be coherently functional to get back online. On the other hand it might make for some interesting reading . . .or not.
Like you, Brien43, I have lost 25 pounds too, and the surgeon says I will lose even more in the recovery process. I am within 8 lbs of a goal weight my GP set for me several (many?) years ago. Guess he is going to be happy when I see him next. With the weight loss, the end of the pancreatitis, and caught early enough not to have to do rad/chemo, there are definitely some positive outcomes to all of this. One more outcome is yet to be seen & not possible to predict. I am diabetic & the surgeon says there is no way to know ahead of time, but 1 of 3 outcomes are possible from poking the pancreas. It will have no impact, it will make the diabetes worse or it could make it better. I will take door #3, please.
Thanks NoreenKlose for the jpg you posted about recovery. I printed it out so I can take it with me & maybe leave it behind to help the next patient.
With so many needing help, I hesitate to ask but would really appreciate whatever the Orb can send me.
