JohnnyDiego, I kinda feel a bit snooty when I think of it, but come on….if you can’t read through the comments first…..especially when there are only a few. You can almost see it when their are 85 comments…People are busy….but less than ten?
LOL… Just woke up and read the comments after mine….Johnnydiego made me realize that I hadn’t understood Dogsniff’s subtle opening comment… Nice one, Dog….I wouldn’t have stepped on it had I been more than 45% awake!
The one who took Quasimoto’s job after his retirement rang the bell beautifully by striking it with his face. But he fell to the street. The onlookers asked Q who he was, and Q says “I didn’t get his name but his face sure rings a bell” (Hence some comments above). But the second part is that the guy’s alcoholic brother took the job , but also lost his balance. When asked who he was, Quasimoto replied “I didn’t get his name either, but he’s a dead ringer for his brother”.

Next thing, you’ll start hearing the chant. “Rudy! Rudy! Rudy!” followed by the fighting Irish song

I wish I could make even some quasi-humorous remark….The names of sports figures just don’t ring any bells for me.

I do have a hunch I’ve seen that guy before, though….

This one complexly escaped me until I read all the comments. Now it’s clear as a bell.

He played in the minors for years, but now he’s in the big leagues and over the hump.

I feel quasi-motivated to name the ringer. Oh bell, I don’t think I will.

He’d better be really careful if his brother is a pinch hitter.Everyone else left me nothing to go with except that bad joke about brother ringers

This was one of the few Brevity-s I caught on to when I first read it. Even smiled! Most of these jokes are over my elderly head.

His nickname in the minors was Moto. Now that he is in the majors where there are lots of dingers, he’s relegated to being called ….

joegeethree: Bisboule? Montréal had some problems with it.
The stance reminded me of the time Casey Stengel signed a “little person” as a pinch-hitter to get a walk with bases loaded.
