Reminds me of when my boss had me host some lunchtime meetings where I warned how to spot malicious e-mails, and what to do… people appeared to be more interested in eating lunch than listening to me…
As a test, I sent out an e-mail that should have raised several red flags based upon my warnings. I included a link to click on (all it did was log who clicked on it)… by the end of the week most of the people who had attended those meetings were in the log…

A friend had a similar ransomware attack many years ago. I suggested he restore the computer to an earlier saved point. He did & it worked.
