So PETA can kill a person, but can’t slap an animal?

PETA has been tring to distroy the dairy industry in Vermont, caiming it’s harmful to the cows.

In truth thier campain only harm the family farms, where the cows have names.

When all the family farms are gone then all that will be left will be the big factory farms where the cows are numbers.

That’s my rant for to day.

    Have a nice day.

@dkram: Too true, which is very unfortunate for all, especially for the cows (if you are a PETA member, think about what you are doing.. really THINK! Had a group that “released” all the mink from a mink farm. Took over endangered weasel habitat, those few who lived and managed to survive in the wild that is. almost made a species extinct because they wanted the poor little minks to run free and didn’t think of the ecological consequences….nor the fact that the mink didn’t know how to live in the wild!

I believe there is a way to treat the animals in our care ethically without going the PETA way. I’m no fan of factory farms - lived too close to one to not know how badly the animals are treated and how that affects what we consume.

I’d be all for more humane treatment of all farm animals. Having said that, I would really love to see family farms thrive, including dairy. And they have a pretty good track record with their animals.

So, as the above posters have said, when you attack animal industries, think through it first, consider consequences and get the right target.

Wow, thought sure I was going to get blasted for this one.

The PETA campain began just after the BST lableing law went into effect. I’ve always wondered if the chem. co.s managed to stir them up.

    Conspiracy theroy, I guess.

All PETA aside, what did Broomie do to warrant getting hung?

Can she ZAP with her nose instead of her finger? lol

I hope the posse knows their horses had to be broken before they could be saddled and ridden! I love the idea of PETA cowboys – quite the oxymoron! Then again, most cowboys do like eating tasty animals…

Ok, so if these are PETA posse members, why are they riding horses? Shouldn’t they just be banging coconut halves together?

Destiny and MisngNOLA, you’re both making an unwarranted assumption that the only way to establish a “rider/ridee” relationship is through abuse and exploitation of the horse.

These PETA boys have established a meaningful dialogue with the horses, leading to an understanding of equals. It’s a mutually beneficial partnership drawing upon the differing strengths of its principal parties. The horses are no doubt full sharers in the profits of the enterprise, and have a marvelous Health Care plan to boot. They are carrying their “guides” (“riders” being an outmoded term which implies that the “ridden” are of subordinate status) with full (and informed) consent.

It’s understandable that Broomie’s horse, having been raised by traditional “break ‘em and bridle ‘em” methods, has a deeply scarred psyche and at this point can’t respond to anything but force; hence the PETA boys’ quandry. It’s possible that one of the other three horses pictured could volunteer to carry Broomie on his/her back for the necessary action, in which case he/she could run away with no slapping at all, but perhaps the horses are also members of PETA’s sister organization, HETW (Horses for the Ethical Treatment of Witches). They will not interfere with the hanging, since human-on-human violence is part of the natural order, but they are morally bound not to take an active role in it.

Teresa, it’s been suggested that I have too much time on my hands. But I’m on vacation this week, so at least it’s not interfering with my work.
