Calvin and Hobbes by Bill Watterson for September 30, 1987
Transcript:
Calvin: Hobbes! You're back! I'm so glad to see you! Hobbes: I'm glad to see you, too. Calvin: Gose, weren't you scared being out in the woods at night? Hobbes: Heck no. Tigers aren't scared of that! I got so bored I hiked back. Calvin: Mom! Look! Hobbes is back! Mom: Yes, your dad found him last night and brought him in. Calvin: Is that so-o-o?! Mom: Mm-hmm. Why don't you go thank him right now?
Help me read Calvin’s face in the last panel. I can’t make it out. I get he might be mad at Hobbes because he was lying about hiking back, so he wasn’t that brave or smart or anything, but I feel it wouldn’t warrant… Whatever reaction he has. It looks… angrier, but also hurt? In a way? I just assumed it was because Calvin just thought Hobbes didn’t wanna live with him because he didn’t come back. Of course Calvin was hurt.
