Calvin and Hobbes by Bill Watterson for October 31, 1990
Transcript:
Calvin: Take a look at this. Wouldn't you say this is a great drawing? I mean, can you believe my teacher didn't like it?! She said it wasn't "serious"! By golly, if this isn't serious art, then nothing is! Who set Miss Wormwood up as an arbiter of aesthetics anyway? This is a beautiful work of power and depth! Hobbes: It's a stegosaurus in a rocket ship, right? Calvin: See? You understood it!
A stegosaurus in a rocket ship sounds very serious to me! I mean, is the ship carrying the stegosaurus, and if so, is it supposed to be and/or is the stegosaurus on the loose? Is the stegosaurus piloting the rocket ship? Sounds very serious to me.
