Mom really knows how to roll with each new scenario that Calvin’s imagination confronts her with. Happy April Fool’s Day to you too Ivy and to all the rest of this motley crew.
To LX013 and Prasrinivara: of course Hobbes got the transmogrifier fixed: he repaired the internal wiring and used a new nucleair battery. Simple as that.
So he’s still an owl but Mom sees him as Calvin just like Hobbes is a live tiger and she sees him as a stuffed tiger. Or maybe it’s the other way around.
Hey Katisha, is the Mason Williams you mentioned yesterday the same Mason Williams that was the writer/music director for the Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour show that ran for about 2 years in the late 60’s before being forced off of the air? If it is, I loved the video he put together that went with his song “Classical Gas”.
I like how Calvin’s mom plays right with Calvin - and picks up on whata is going on with him.
How telling in panel 4 when she says ” I heard you.” —isn’t that what most of us want –that we are heard/paid attention —and not ignored or even worse dismissed.

Stay tuned LX013–we’re actually seeing the strip from mum’s-eye-view, and mum is not transmogrifier-cognisant.

Mom is definitely used to Calvin’s imagination. She’s been living with a live tiger in the house for six years.
cneel over 15 years ago
Actually, she probably gave him that imagination. Both genetically and environmentally

At least mom’s acceptance and response gets Calvin out of his funk. Yum, tomato soup. Much better than them little mousey feet.

He’s an owl and he doesn’t like mice? What’s up with that? But his mom should tell that he’s joking.
