It’s your day, do with it what you wish.

My saturdays as a kid were spent earning money doing peoples yards. I’m just not into television these days.

I will have to put out all my furniture and books of my flat, tradesmen will come, there is much to do, no TV!

After a wonderful month of holiday with friends, I’m back and I disagree. Time spent with a good friend doing something you enjoy is not squandered - it is LIVED!!

I do not understand: after a whole meal of chocolate frosted sugar bombs we find Calvin infinite quiet in front of the T.V. How come ??

Yukoner: Good to have you back.

Calvin is quiet while he’s eating sugar, it takes a little while for the sugar rush to hit his system. (From a mom whose oldest son could have given Calvin a run for his money.)

Saturday morning, TV cartoons, big bowl of sugar bombs with your best friend….good as it gets.

I remember those Saturday mornings watching cartoons and the afternoons had monster movies.

When we were kids, we’d watch cartoons on TV on Saturdays. Now, many years later, we watch these comic strips here on Saturdays and every other day of the week. Some things never change.

Welcome back Yukoner, seems longer than a month.

Unfortunately, I had brothers and sisters that had their own shows, so I didn’t always get to watch what I wanted in the morning.

Also, I had parents that limited TV watching and video game playing.

Childhood saturday mornings. Playing outside could wait for the afternoon.

I used to watch the cartoons on the TV on Saturday when I was kid but nowaday I don’t watch it. For my age, I just want to watch good and educational programs such as Foodnetwork, TLC, and Animal Planet.

No kidding Rad, the cartoons they actually show (most aren’t even toons anymore) are terrible.

Life is short! don’t squander it, unless it involves cartoons!

Shabbat Shalom to you EMET. Our Sabbath is on Sunday, so we mow the lawn on Saturday, but I do keep Sunday Sabbath, reading the Holy Scripture and attending church. Shalom my brother.

Hey Bald, I was wondering if anyone else had that memory. We lived for the Saturday cartoon fest at the local theatre. Thats the only way we saw COLOR toons.

MYY4U: I forgot the cartoons were in black and white. Didn’t seem to matter, as long as I could see them. Sadly, my sister never “got” them.

That’s why this site is so great.

Yes, sitting there together watching Bugs and the gang on Saturday morning was a religious ritual in our house whether my kids liked it or not.

For me saturday nights were the best as a kid. My best friend and I would get to go out after working hard during the day, and have fun doing whatever we wanted.

The “sabbath” is a divine provision for OUR benefit….it is a day that belongs to us and not vice versa; it’s one day out of seven to be set aside for us chill out and rest our mind and body with anything but another work day. It’s easy, fun, highly logical and incredibly beneficial.

Amazing how our religious dogma constantly confounds God’s simple math.

Which day out of the seven becomes your ‘sabbath’ is totally up to you. If you can count to seven, pick the one day that serves YOUR circumstances best and enjoy that day to the max.

grazer: LOL! You’re my kind of parent. My parents wanted me to watch cartoons alone, so they could sleep in! Look what they missed. I wonder if I was the youngest toddler to learn how to turn on the T.V. by herself?

EMET: Peace. I know about Constantine and the Council of Laodicea. There was enough controversary over it to split the early Christian church. No doubt the origin of the two day weekend has something to do with this.

We both honour our God and Creator by observing a Sabbath rest. “Sabbath was made for man, not man for Sabbath.” (Mark 2:27) BTW, I shared a Seder meal this year with a Messianic Christian who observes Sabbath on Saturday. We accept one another peaceably.

I used to watch cartoons like that every Saturday with my Dad. He loved them as much or more than I did. It was back in the 60’s and 70’s so our favorites were Elmer Fudd and Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Tom and Jerry, The Roadrunner, The Flintstones, and Woody Woodpecker. These are now considered classic cartoons on the Boomerang Cable Channel here!

back then it was cartoons… Today I can extort work out of them by changing the password on the computer and deny them access until they do their chores
