I think I found Calvin’s dad in some other Watterson Art, and now we know how his dad was when he was younger. Hope everybody hasn’t seen this already:

Calvin, it’s very dangerous to openly express your feelings. Better you keep them to yourself and strike from the shadows when no one expects it. They can’t strike back when you’ve already taken them out.

Ya know, I understand that Watterson meant for the reality here to be ambiguous, but if I was treating Hobbes as an element of Calvin’s imagination I’d think it’s gotta suck when your imaginary friend can get in better zings than you can.
