It’s not easy to pitch to a 6-year-old’s strike zone …

“Aarg!” Goodmorning my fellow pirates! Until I got to college did I find there were other people under 6’ tall like myself. All my friends and 90% of my classmates towered over me. My Mom was 5’2” and my Dad was 5’7” which put me in the middle. I know what it’s like to live in a village of giants. I saw many a ball go over my head and was picked on constantly for being short. In our most recent class reunion picture they put me and four others in the front row so they could see us!

It’s good to see friends who in the end do what is best.

I love how there is no dialogue here, but you can already hear what Calvin and Hobbes are yelling at each other… hee hee! “That wasn’t a strike, doofus! You pitch too high” “Not my problem, you’re too short!”

AWRR! On shipboard, the Royal Rules of Calvinball give six bases for a ball over the crows nest and the pitcher has to walk the plank. Keel hauling the umpire is an automatic win for both sides and mom wench brings a bottle of pop.

Nabuquduriuzhur, I have two tiny little frogs that always sit on the handle to my irrigation pipe…I have to be very, very careful not to harm them - they’re only about 1/2” long, at best…

And AAARRRGHHHH to all of you for Talk Like a Pirate Day!!!

Somehow, unless I’m roleplaying I just can’t get into the swing-from-the-yardarm of things.

Maybe if I had some Captain Morgan handy…

Try rubbing a small amount of engine oil (aaaarrrrgh..whale blubber?) on the tailpipe edge; it’ll smell and smoke a bit the first drive, but the frogs will stay away.

As someone who’s 5’ 2” tall, I can honestly attest to the fact that it’s hell to be short!

On the height thing, as the 5’ child of two people both 6’, I’ve had 65 years of jokes about “post-war shortages” and such, but I had a good career as a federal litigator and learned that size has nothing to do with ability.

Maybe Calvin is short because he’s 6 years old. No telling how tall he will be when he grows up. Both parents appear tallish.

Will have to watch for more left-handed evidence. I eat, write, and play racquet sports left-handed but do everything else right-handed. My father was left-handed (but made to change), my mother-in-law was left-handed (but not made to change), but my son is all right-handed.

I noticed Calvin’s handedness some time ago and checked in my C&H library. He uses his left a lot, but switches back and forth. (And I have it on Mark Tatulli’s authority that Lio uses whichever hand works best in the scene.)

    Southpaws rule!
