@JazzyBella,That’s another fine mess into which Calvin has gotten!Your rendering of that classic line from Laurel and Hardy, was intentional, not inadvertent, I suspect!

@kreole,I concur with coldplague! Now we know!Calvin has really gummed up the works.

Calvin looks gruesome, ghastly, ghoulish, gross and grotesque, not to mention gargoylish!

You may want to save that look for Halloween.

Made me wonder what brand of gum he was chewing. I remember the bubble gum of my ’’60’s/’’70s childhood creating massive bubbles “big as ya head”.

This was one of the many Calvin and Hobbes strips that made me laugh out loud the first time I read it. I believe this would be an example of when Mr Watterson took a “weak” idea and “went for broke on the illustration” to quote the man himself.

His face sure does look caved in. His mother will have fun getting that out of his hair

He sort of looks like he’s smiling under all of that. “Good heavens” sounds like an unusual expression for Calvin. Perhaps Bill Watterson wanted to say “good grief,” but didn’t want to sound like Charles Schulz. Calvin has proven that chewing excessive amounts of gum can cause you to lose face. If he goes out in public like that, people will assume that he has severe gum disease.

A inside out Calvin now I hope we see more of this.Its interesting .

I can remember laughing for ten minutes the first time I read this. Not surprisingly – I once won a contest for being able to chew the most Bazooka bubble gum at the same time. 55 pieces! Good thing I didn’t have to blow a bubble.

I’ve gotten gum in my hair b4…..my mom was really mad, wonder what Calvin’s mom is gonna do…..also what flavour is that? Watermelon, cherry or strawberry…hmmm…I wonder if bubblegum sales are gonna increase because of this strip….
